The ending hit different such a good and happy conclusion. Top 3 best characters are Uncle, Zuko, and Aang, and I’m so happy you guys watched this with Maddie and Addie. Wow, yeah, the Zuko and Azula Agni Kai was the best and most beautiful thing in this series, and Zuko's character development hit different. Thanks for the goated journey Your reactions made the experience so much more goated and memorable, and it wouldn’t be as good if Addie and Maddie weren’t there they made the reactions goated.

But because Azula shot him and killed him, he was cut off. Katara brought him back to life the but the energy of the lightning was still keeping his spirit from reconnecting. the rock was the Hail Mary shot to release the energy.

The supporting cast is trash. The fact that the villains are what make the show than the actual main cast is laughable, and I guess Korra repetitive character development. The fighting style is so basic looking compared to ATLA creative style. And Aang was a 12 yr old vs Korra 16-19. She definitely seemed more annoying and hot headed. And does she like to almost date the entire team avatar, like damn make up your mind and hurting Bolin. We’re not even going to talk about what happened to the past lives. It’s not misogyny or nostalgia, it’s just not that good. Yall Korra saviors love using those two words to be shielded from actual criticism.

I also didn’t like Republic City - thought it was a cool concept, but it’s almost antithetical to what the world of ATLA was. It’s too technologically advanced, and I agree that there was always something that didn’t feel right about it existing in the Avatar universe. Doesn’t fit. Another issue I had is I think the show reveals too much about big elements of the world of ATLA. I liked the mystery about bending & the existence of the Avatar, I really didn’t like that they did an origin story but relegated it to flashbacks only. Those are FOUNDATIONAL concepts for this IP, so they either need an entire series to explore, or just leave it a mystery & focus on the current characters. Sequels always seem to jump too far ahead. The creators had the golden ticket - the audience fell in love with Team Aang, so why not just continue that story? They could have just brought the comics to animation. I’d be down to see an Azula redemption arc, etc. I also agree 100% that Korra, as a character, is just… annoying, to be frank. And the other members of Team Korra are almost simply worse versions of the OG squad. As you said perfectly, TLOK had a ton of potential, but didn’t live up to much of it. However, I still have very high hopes for the new stuff Avatar Studios is working on - I believe we’re getting a Kyoshi series next (?), very exited for that!!! What are your thoughts?

The core cast of team avatar in ATLA is really what made the show what it was. The new team avatar in Korra rarely has everyone together in comparison, and failed to develop them as much as they could have. I also don't find them as likable as the original cast either, and Korra in particular is obnoxious. I won't get into other specifics, as it would get into spoiler territory, but some of my biggest gripes with Korra is how much they retconned and messed with bending. Republic City was a mess as well and didn't fit in the Avatar universe and was literally just there because the writers liked 1920s NYC aesthetic so they shoehorned NYC into it.

I think Korra is nowhere near the quality of storytelling that ATLA is, and I’d be really curious to see this crew’s reaction to it. Hope you guys do a Korra series-watch too! What ATLA *nailed* so well was CHARACTER. The thing I liked most about Korra is simply seeing more world-building, learning where Team Avatar ended up, and what they accomplished in their lives after the events of TLA. In other words, my favorite parts of Korra had nothing to do with her or those characters - I just wanted more Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph. I want to see AVATAR AANG, at full power, as an adult (we only get glimpses in flashbacks). I want to see them all grow into adults, develop their bending more, how they influenced the world, and see them “retire” from hero-work and start families as they enjoy some well-earned rest. That crew of characters is just so well-written that I want more, despite the ATLA series having a near-perfect ending.

Unlike ATLA which is 1 story for ~50 episodes, LOK is essentially 4 separate 12-14 episode short stories (especially the first 2 seasons because the writers didn't know they'd get more seasons). That's why in ATLA there are some 'filler' episodes and more childish antics sprinkled throughout, while every episode of LOK is integral to the story. When I rewatch ATLA, I always skip stuff (especially in Book 1), which I've rarely done for LOK. And I didn't mind the love triangle tbh, it was pretty realistic and I feel like its presence is overstated by critics of it. I'd probably rank the books something like this: Korra 3 > ATLA 2 > ATLA 3 >= Korra 1 > Korra 4 > ATLA 1 > Korra 2

Partly because we've been waiting so long for it, esp as Zuko has evolved and become what his uncle always wanted him to be (his own man with his earned honor). But also think of the LAST time Zuko disappointed/disrespected a father figure. He literally got burned in the face and shunned/exiled. Zuko was so nervous to see Iroh again probably because he expected Iroh to be so angry with him, like Ozai was. So it just hits 10000000x harder when Iroh shows him LOVE and FORGIVENESS despite what happened between them. That's what real love is and what a true father does for his son 😭

Korra has many beautiful moments, and many bittersweet moments, especially the ones that connect back to ATLA so would be nice for them to see what we have as well :)))

We see her come to the conclusion that Aang is a potential love interest for her after the fortune teller episodes so she has had thoughts about Aang in a romantic sense while their friendship developed throughout the show- and what is love if not the purest form of companionship? What really was stopping katara from progressing was because the person that she loved most died and left her all alone. Katara had to consider the very real possibility that Aang could very well not come back from his battle with Ozai, albeit it was most likely unconsciously, and so as a defense mechanism she created that mental distance to allow her to come to terms with these feelings of potential great loss and fear. When Aang proves, by winning the battle with Ozai, that he’s gonna be sticking around and can hold his own, it reinforces katara to be strong enough to abandon her fears and go for her love :))) hope that made sense!! Gonna miss these reactions so much !!! PLZZZ watch Korra to fill the void

Im still surprised that she could lightning bend in that state tho

Like how they are definition of harmony (fire and water) and how Aang’s first heartbreak could’ve played a major role in building the maturity he would’ve needed to face the fire lord. Especially since Zuko, the person who took his girl, would be teaching him. But I digress. I hope you all watch Korra! So many of your questions are answered in that show
