It is no different from the first season of Game of Thrones. It has the action and gore native to Game of Thrones while delving into the political landscape that plays a tremendous factor in progressing the story. If a person likes Game of Thrones there is no reason to dislike House of the Dragon.

2024-01-20 02:35:17 +0000 UTCIt is just as @olivia said @Bibi, Togashi wanted to contrast Meruem's powerful character with the Gungi master - not only is she blind, but she has a phlegmatic nose, and if you hear carefully, you can hear that she speaks with a slight lisp. She only knows Gungi and is very incapable in doing anything else in life (she said 'Thank you for infighting/ inciting me' instead of 'inviting' when she first met Meruem!!)

So If it's not a big deal, I'd strongly recommend you guys should switch to these standard subs. It's just a better experience overall (as many will agree), especially as you approach the heights of this arc.

These episodes are much more enjoyable on the second rewatch because you know when the peak stuff is happening and you're not like in the dark with all the hype things youve heard.

2024-01-19 18:59:45 +0000 UTCEpisode 105 is a such a great episode in terms of escalation and character development, it truly elevated HxH in my top favourite shows. The scene with Meruem shows how the Gungi player checkmates his every move both on board as well as off board. She checkmates his wager by proposing an even stronger bet (life vs. left arm), forcing him to reconsider the wager (if she can stake her life, she could also ask him for his life if she won). Being a creature of royal pride, his apology is ripping off his own left arm as penance for his petty challenge. Of course, he wishes to continue the game because he said there would be no breaks (being a King, he must stay true to his word), but Pouf being the royal guard must perform his duty of saving the king, even at the cost of his own life. Once again, the Gungi player checkmates the King by refusing to play until he heals his arm, saving both Meruem and Pouf. Her open challenge to the King to use Gungi to kill her (meaning win against her and she will anyway take her own life) throws him in such a predicament, as for the first time, he simply cannot get his way through brute force and must actually follow the rules to win! It is such a powerful move, and Pouf notices the immense power this girl holds over the king. That is such a great scene with so many layers revealing the true nature of the King, the girl, as well as Pouf (poor guy was willing to die but not watch the king bleed to death with a ripped arm showing his failure to protect the king as a royal guard). This is such amazing writing by Togashi!

2024-01-19 18:44:56 +0000 UTCThis is why I love this arc, and I think most of the fans are too for the same reason, because this arc is soo much in-depth of character building and also has complex stories all tangled like threads. Each parties have their own agenda and motives to act in their ways, and the same event can be perceived differently by each parties, the king chopping off his own arm for example. These are the reasons why you don't feel the show is "slowing down" even though the time in their world only past like a few days or even a few hours (it is not like NARUTO fight scene where they don't do anything for a few episode it feels like you are wasting your time by watching them just yapping lol).

While it is correct to attribute his unusual behavior to a 'grind' mindset, I would rather define this arm ripping scene to more of an honorable and respect one. The king punishes himself for using petty mind game in order to win, and does it after realising the girl's strength isn't clouded by any malign or arrogant motive. His change is directly influence by her because he can't reconcile her being so weak (and unsightly lol) and yet beating him in such a unviolent and respectable way. Also, I love the fact that she's the reason the King lost a fcking arm. Not only the imagery is so cool, but seeing Meruem endangering himself so quickly is already a testament to unstability, which is a prerequisite to change. So yeah, like Cannon said, she's changing his life. Also, Carter's comment about the ants realising their humanity, it is already happening, but on the individual level. A lot of ants remember their past human life, but the thing is, that they were reborn as ants and therefore inherited of multiple instincts relating to the specie. Those two nature coexist at the same time and should be represented more in a spectrum than in a simple binary system (human vs ant). You might have ants like Ikalgo (octopus) or Colt, who adapted to humans more easily because of their human personality and experience with our teams, but some others like Cheetu or Hagya who aren't at all connected to their human-self because of their lived experience. But yeah, human nature, what it really means and how it connects with the ants is a core theme of this arc so I won't elaborate too much on that since it will be explored thoroughly in the rest of it, but know that there isn't gonna be like a general simultaneous switch that's gonna happen haha
