Dragons and Targaryens are created with blood magic so you have to have a certain amount of dragon blood to bond with a dragon. Viserys/Daemon, Both their grandparents and parents were brother and sister. So the new dragonrider has dragon blood through his mother. Her father’s parents were brother and sister.

2024-02-03 19:53:19 +0000 UTCTargaryens are bonded to their dragons, and can feel whatever their rider is feeling—anger, sadness, pain, etc. it’s pretty cool. a Targaryen can also only bond to one dragon in their lifetime which is why Viserys can’t ride another dragon. contrary to Targaryens a dragon can have multiple riders throughout their lifetime. Viserys’ dragon, Balerion, was bonded to Aegon the conqueror before he was bonded to Viserys. Aegon the conqueror brought Balerion over from Valryia (Targaryens ancestral region) and conquered the seven kingdoms (where HOTD currently takes place) with him. he’s also who Viserys’ son is named after. hopefully this helps!

The most popular theories are that Targaryen's are immune to grayscale, or that the crab feeder's grayscale was somehow dormant and/or stopped, like someone else you know. There may also be different stages, so it is possible that he was not infectious at this point.

2024-02-01 05:17:38 +0000 UTCokay but this episode just proves how much of a rat otto is. he was literally one of, if not the only one who suggested rhaenyra to be heir. which lord strong pointed out would subject the realm to even more chaos then just letting daemon remain heir and waiting for the king to remarry WHICH THEY ALL KNEW HE HAD TO DO. so in an effort to isolate the king from his brother, who could see through otto’s bs, he suggested a female heir knowing it would throw the realm into chaos, AND THEN harps about how unspeakable it is for her to remain now that his grandson has been born. and he set all this up in literally the first ep tl;dr: if otto has 0 haters, IM LITERALLY DEAD

Then now, after 3 damn years he finally decides to send in support and basically grab credit just like that. It would look terrible on Daemon. That's why he went on this suicide mission as a "it ends now or this is where I die" kinda deal, the reason the war hadn't ended was because they couldn't draw the crab feeders out of their caves and this dirty surrender trick must've been a complete last resort, probably something so disgraceful it had never even been brought up as a true plan, only something Daemon would do in a desperate situation like this

2024-02-01 02:25:16 +0000 UTCyeah i also think it speaks to viserys’s personality. he told rhaenyra that dragons should have never been trifled with and that their domestication is an illusion. he also didn’t really ride balerion that much. in the books, it’s said that viserys rode balerion around town a few times and then he died so king vizzy really never boasted the main power of his house (i don’t think this is a spoiler but if it is lmk and i’ll edit it out). out of the few targaryens we’ve seen, he is by far the most passive, which daemon pointed out, and i think his opinions about dragons reflect that.

Viserys may be a decent guy but he is an awful king trying to avoid any type of conflict no matter how urgent. Even in the beginning when tyland lannister try to let him know how urgent the matter is bro really said "its been 3yrs, they can wait another 3 days" if i was daemon and i found that out. i wouldve beyond pissed. thats why you lost two fingers headass. He lied about not naming Rhaynera as his heir on whim even though he really did. he only did it cause he was mad about what daemon said (Thats how i see it atleast)

Like when certain houses start to die out their territory gets smaller and the symbol gets bloody. Certain political changes happen like houses joining so their territory grows and the symbols combine. Another one is when a certain enemy starts moving southward the intro changes the season of the world like going from Summer,Spring,Fall,Winter. So without getting into spoilers its very obvious in later seasons when the intro changes because things start getting cold in the intro and the show.
