I have a master’s degree in Japanese so I understand the sub voices and intonations better than some viewers, but the way the English dub VA voices Rock Lee is just SO good for the character. He always cracks me up 🤣

2024-02-01 15:24:16 +0000 UTCThen it’s simply a matter of taste (at least where you’re concerned, because I’m willing to bet that a lot of dub lovers are speaking through nostalgia and not realizing it). As far as I’m concerned, both the emotional moments and villains voice are superior in sub. “Almighty push” VS “shrina tensei” and Pain’s speech regarding the cycle of hatred; the cadence of his delivery is simply not comparable to me. The signature quotes/words that characters like Shikamaru and Naruto are in fact iconic in Japanese. Anyway, we’ll see if they poll it at all.

2024-02-01 05:46:29 +0000 UTCproblem is not with the voice actors necessarily ( I watch almost everything in sub) its mostly the script for the sub especially in og naruto and how well the voices match the intended personality of the character, for a bunch of genin 12 year olds a lot of the voices sound to mature, jokes aren't executed as well and ultimately when you comapre a lot of scenes especially emotional ones, I think most times the dub is significantly better. Only watched Naruto a couple of years ago aswell so it's not necessarily nostalgia for me

Also you probably only feel that way because either the Japanese language doesn’t resonate with you as well or you grew up watching Naruto in dub. As far as I’m concerned, nothing beats the original intended language . The heart they pour into it is just different. Japanese VA are seriously gifted in their craft. I really hope they don’t switch, I watch nothing in dub. If they don’t mind it and vote goes that way, that’ll just be too bad I guess. I at least have HxH to fall back to.

There's just certain things that should be watched in dub tbh, I really do think there's a reason as to why Naruto's dub acting is considered one of the best in the anime world.

I just re-read the comments now and I'm realizing that you guys probably feel that way because the first time you watched Naruto, shxt was dubbed. I always watch stuff in its original language so the intonations and meaning of certain phrases lose their meaning when translated in English. It simply doesn't have the same heart.

Also the way Sasuke and Sakura sound in dub is better tbh. I really enjoy the way Sasuke articulates certain things in dub rather than sub.

I suggest for the next binge you guys stick to a no filler guide cause its gonna start coming up pretty soon if i remember. The worst for old anime is when you're trying to get to peak and the filler leaves a bad taste in your mouth cause you forgot to watch around it.
