The slog of this show is annoying me even tho it's my favorite anime. I wish they'd make a Naruto Kai and condense the show down dramatically. Or even a Naruto Pace or something. It feels like 50% of this show is either filler, repeated scenes, or long still frame transitions. I guess thats most weekly episodic anime tho.

I saw some comments before that Naruto has a great fighting scene, but it is not so good tbh, which disappoints me so much. I like music, though. I hope it gets better, or maybe it isn't for me. Shit was made to pass on TV so it naturally dragged the scenes so kids would tune in for the next episode too. Dragonball was the same. and other shows of this time are similar too. when i was watching it in 2006 i thought shit was the most fire thing i ever seen and i wasn't conscious about the pacing, i didn't even know what pacing was... as a kid i didn't care. Today when you can watch all 700 episodes on crunchyroll instantly it really feels very slow

2024-02-02 15:58:09 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly, if your ignoring filler, the rest of og naruto is good and the pacing is fine, cause its just the chunin exams and then like 2 other arcs with a couple build up episodes for each. I will say there is filler that isnt important as far as main story goes, but gives some context to the last arc and some interactions between the main three, so you dont have to watch it but it might be helpful to know what happens in that filler when you get there just so your not caught off guard. I tried to explain it without spoiling anything but ill leave another comment down the road when you get closer to the last arc

I don't expect every ep of a long running series like this to have amazing animation, limited animation is fine. The point I brought up is that everything in this episode was straight up bad. Most of the eps of Naruto up to this point has had very limited animation but this is the first actually bad ep production wise. Almost every shot was off model and not in a good way, they were all cross-eyed half the time and the drawing quality was not good at all. The animation wasn't only limited but also extremely janky and the direction was bad with shots that didn't flow together at all or even make sense. Combine all 3 and this is a complete travesty of an ep. I'm surprised they didn't say much about how that ep looked but I guess it's because they were fighting just to stay awake 😂

They didn’t release in seasons like newer anime, and these episodes came out as the manga was coming out and they kept catching up and running out of content. In original Naruto they tried really hard to not have filler episodes so they dragged out canon episodes. Eventually they gave up and the decided to do filler arcs in shippuden to keep the pacing better and less yappy. Would’ve been way better in seasons in my opinion. A remake would fix this
