Even if there's plausible deniability about how the 2 extra guys died in each individual dungeon, stack up enough of those and... people would notice, right? Like word would get around that no one should ever go with this crew because anyone who does dies. Maybe they run a lot of missions in between where they don't kill the extra 2 and they only run this scam occasionally, that's the only way I can see it being even remotely workable and even then I feel like people would take notice and they'd get investigated.

So to increase their money per dungeon, they devised this scheme to make dungeon splits only between them 6 instead of 8, so every dungeon they get a bigger cut.
