@Nick K First point, absolutely. That makes total sense but is another matter. Second point, though…eh, I get it for the story, of course, but that kind of character device always struck me as strictly for stories and edgy teenagers. In real life, I can’t imagine an adult actually being tormented over an issue that for one, they could completely ignore if they wanted to, and for another, is only a benefit if they chose not to ignore it.

2024-02-22 10:56:46 +0000 UTCWRONG. FMA 2004 had about 20 episodes from the manga in the first half. But the remaining 30 episodes followed a completly diff storyline than the manga. FMAB was a remake which basically followed the manga from start to finish. Brotherhood left out a few early episodes that were done in FMA 2004, but actually remade several episodes.

In the dub they just don't ever bother with written japanese so when it's something crucial you're just left in the dark. This is one of the clearest things that make all dubs inferior and it felt like no one was talking about it when they were deciding way back then, and my warning was dismissed by dub fanboys which is why I'm bringing it up again.

2024-02-13 21:43:08 +0000 UTCJust to clarify, the first anime adapted the manga as it was coming out. Problem is that the anime caught up and from then on it started a story of its own, being massively different from the manga. Brotherhood came along to fully adapt the manga and be more faithful to the original story.

2024-02-13 10:05:26 +0000 UTCIt IS in the original manga(Yoki story), it was in the very first volume. The story is like. Brothers traveling town to town looking for the crew of the philosopher's stone, they ended up in this coal mining town, the hole town is working as miner, but Yoki, as the owner of the mine as well as the high rank officer, was governing the town and demanding extreme taxes. People were barely afford to live. Ed heard about this story from the onwer of the motel so Ed faked (transmutated the stones to the gold bars, which is illegal) and ask Yoki to sell the mine. Yoki agreed to this deal and gave up the certificate because it was a insane deal in terms of the profit, and he wants to gain Ed's favor because Ed as the state alchemist is considered as equivalent in rank to Major so Yoki thought he could move up the ladder by using Ed's infuluence. A moment later, the gold bars was re-transmutated to the stones (It didn't say how but I guess Ed set some kind of expiration timer or something). Yoki bursted into the said motel and demanded explanation from Ed. But since it was illegal all along and Ed already sold the certificate to the owner, so Yoki couldn't do anything and even beaten up by the miner. The story after this wasn't in the manga so we don't know if what he said in this episode is true or not.

Twice now he's said before her that she is within her right to judge him, and besides state alchemists, soldiers, or chimeras they're the only people he has killed. On top of that he knows he killed them in a blind rage despite them having saved his life. The others he has killed he carried no remorse but for them he wants to be judged and refuses to let himself get out of his guilt by giving her any reason to think he's not guilty. He also remembers back to his family speaking of breaking the cycle of violence and hate, and the only path to that he sees is himself being killed.

2024-02-13 06:11:06 +0000 UTCWell the chimera's complaints are two fold: one they literally can't go back to their families if the status quo remains because the military told their families they were dead and they'd put their families in danger by going back to them, and two even if they can hide their chimera forms there's an aspect of not wanting to be around their families knowing what they are. Similar to how Hohenheim looks like any other human yet considers himself a monster who is afraid to even touch his own kids for fear of tainting them.

It's like being Bruce Banner/The Hulk except you can always fully control when you transform and also you retain your intellect and don't just become a rampaging monster. Seems sorta like just getting super powers.

Just barely enough to keep him growing in alive, that they really are bonded souls wise. Just a slight connection because of when they mix their blood and went into the portal together. So almight be having these instances of blacking out just because of the amount of time it's been, of a soul being in the body it shouldn't be. But it could also be that these going a good distance away from Ed so they're bond is kind of weakening

He gets tricked my Edward to sell the deed to the town for some fake gold he transmuted. 2003 Yoki barely shows up and is killed by Lust in his second appearance.
