I did notice that. For those of us that had lore background, it wasn’t a big deal but like I remember peoples reactions to that scene being wild. I think they’re gonna be desensitized to potentially on other things. with Dany’s plot. Especially if they don’t get to any of that before House of the Dragon comes back. Because it seems to me that we only have a couple more months before house the dragon comes back and I don’t think they’re gonna be anywhere near the later seasons of Game of Thrones.

I’m paraphrasing, but I know in the GOT book series it says something like, “The small folk always lose when the High Lords play their game of thrones.” There are very few people that are honestly any type of hero or good guy in the world, especially among the nobility, who are the primary characters. Hey, I totally get not wanting things mentioned for fear of spoiling important events. This was not one, in the books it was revealed to be Valyrian steel right away, and an ancestral sword of House Stark. But in the show is a throwaway line during the earlier episodes which chances are the line would go unnoticed by the guys. I mentioned it because even though Valyrian steel is very prevalent in HotD (as it should be) the showrunners of GoT didn't seem to care too much for it in early seasons, so since HotD is fresh in everyone's minds (since they even asked if it was a Valyrian steel sword) then why not give them an Easter egg that doesn't even matter but connects the shows a bit more?

I think the only disadvantage of watching House of the Dragon before Game of Thrones is that you get desensitized to incest. It is considered more or less normal in HOD and then seeing it in GOT, it doesn't hit hard. For me GOT was the first piece of media with this topic and it left me speechless.

I also think Brig brought up a good point that the Targaryens in King’s landing are likely to wear flashier clothes, so that would probably add to the feeling. An interesting story I came across a while back: the original pilot episode of Game of Thrones was a complete mess—confusing, lacking in excitement, and poorly shot. The dialogue was flat, the characters didn't grab your attention, and they wore terrible wigs. The scale of the production was also very small and didn't do justice to the grandeur of the story. HBO was on the verge of pulling the plug considering how poorly made it was and the significant amount of money they had invested (around 10 million dollars). Additionally, producing a high fantasy TV show was a considerable risk since it hadn't been done well before, and HBO typically favored more grounded and serious stories. However, during a meeting to discuss the failure of the pilot, the writers, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, took full responsibility and provided detailed explanations of why the pilot fell short, along with suggestions for fixing it scene by scene. Four months after this meeting, HBO finally greenlit Season 1. The writers undertook a complete rewrite of the entire first season and were instructed to recast Daenerys and Catelyn Stark. 90% of the pilot was reshot. Just two days after the newly rewritten pilot's released, HBO renewed the series for another season.

Pretty much all of your questions will be answered but I do recommend checking out the “histories and lore” videos on YouTube, they are narrated by the actual actors and are canon to the story. THIS is Carter's shit. Especially S1-S4. I think it does the whole build up and execution process at a similar quality to AoT, though it's less of a complete package. Not sure how the guys will feel about some of the drawn out sex scenes, but that's about one of the only gripes I can see them having (i haven't seen HOTD so idk if they got a taste of that there)

This was called "half-swording" and could be done for a variety of reasons. If you ever needed to use blunt force and didn't have a suitable blunt weapon, you could hold the blade and hit with the hilt of your sword. You could also just hold the blade to have more control over the end of your weapon.
