I know you’re trying your best which is why my original comment was supposed to be respectful. In HOTD you’re more like to spend multiple episodes with excruciating detail being put on Rhaenyra’s lactation process (episode 6) or Alicent depressingly raising her kids in episodes 3-7. There is no character growth or acceptance of reality making them change who they are and how they approach the world. Both Rhaenyra and Alicent are pretty much perpetually 14 in the way they act and view the world. As an example, after episode 4 of HOTD when Viserys reminds Rhaneyra that they are living in Westeros, not Sweden. And that she is going to have to fight tooth and nail for her positions, we could in theory have expected some growth from Rhaenyra. Perhaps maybe she takes her duty more seriously, is less likely to be focused on relationships, and acts more carefully knowing that her position is relatively in peril. Instead Rhaenyra doesn’t change at all after the time skip, and if anything leans more into being single-minded and above the rules. You can certainly argue that Rhaenyra not changing her actions and personality to fit the world is the whole point, that she doesn’t think she needs to change at all to keep her way. Even if that is true, it still plays right into my previous point about HOTD compared to GOT, that the characters do not change or react in a way to better themselves and their ambitions relative to the world around them.

The reason the swords are gone from around the throne, the way they were on House of the Dragon is that this show came first. So the throne you are seeing on this show is the one that was developed for this show. But the author of the books had an artist create a throne like he imagined long before it was the television series. It is an incredible monstrosity, and you can look up pictures of it online. But it was totally impractical to make for television. Fans of the books were always a bit disappointed with this version of the throne. So when they made House of the Dragon, the show creators wanted to make something a little more accurate to the actual Iron Throne of the books. The one on House of the Dragon is still nothing like the author’s version of the Iron Throne. But it is a bit closer. The version of the Iron Throne created for this show did become quite iconic when this show was originally airing.
