However the next arcs are more focused on Kurapika, Leorio, hisoka, the phantom troupe, dark continent etc. So we don’t see Gon a lot. My guess is Alluka could heal his body, but not remove his nen restriction. It’s sort of implied he still has aura but he just can’t see it, so he could potentially get back control Of his Nen. But again we don’t see him much.

2024-04-02 21:23:40 +0000 UTCAs a writer myself, I understand Togashi's dilemma of not wanting others to finish a story for him. One, I'd feel as though I couldn't call it my work anymore. Two, you can have an objective idea and outline in mind of the ending, but when finally getting to drawing/writing the scene or leading up to it, the content can change in the moment or last second to something even better (which Togashi has done in the manga due to "gut feeling") and therefore there's a feeling of missing out on something better when someone else does it for you. Sometimes the ideas aren't as greatly impactful when you get there as you thought and therefore need last-minute changes. I don't know about drawing but I assume the writing concept might apply to that too. Drawing it a certain way (Gon's Rage) might not have been a great moment had someone else drawn it. This is a heavy mindset in writers, not saying it's always the best mindset. I would deeply regret it if I made something that I know the story could have been "better" had I done it myself. And if it wasn't already clear, Togashi takes a lot of pride in his work.

It probably felt way longer for them, and I agree with Carter's criticism that it ends really abruptly and you continue into the next arc without fully processing the ending of the Chimera Ant arc. It's my biggest criticism of the anime as well. That arc was so big, the ending was done well, but they should've sat with it for a couple more episodes to really set up the next arc properly.

The original commenter's perspective could be influenced by future events, which you aren't privy too. It's very easy to reflect on Togashi's writing and dialogue when you are doing so in retrospect, because truthfully ALL of the micro details that make up characters and their decisions are so important to the excellence of Hunter. On the flip side, because you can only see a lot of this in retrospect, as you go through it blind with more limited information, it's very easy to find it boring. If you don't have the context which unlocks the full scope of the situation - why wouldn't you find it boring. I say with 100% confidence that if any of the guys who were new to the show ever read the manga and revisited this, or we all got more animated seasons (fingers crossed) the tune would change entirely. That's not to say the current perspective isn't fair because it absolutely is. Even from the last batch of chapters we received the other year every reader had to re-contextualize SO much of what we thought and knew about past events. It is what it is and it's very okay for people to not be on the same page as you without the entire picture. In fact, the ability for future events to be so transformative is what makes it truly great in the first place. Happy watching. Good vibes for the last few episodes. Pray for more.

The recent hxh manga chapter are infamously filled with long, drawn-out, confusing yap sessions. There's this one page that people always post where togashi literally just gave up trying to draw anything after the first couple panels and then the rest of the page is just walls of text on a completely blank background 😭. I mean I think it's really interesting how much detail he goes into but I won't lie and say I've never been tempted to skip a few dialogue boxes out of boredom and frustration 😅

Like obviously he has big chunks of it mapped out but in a recent interview he said he has created multiple endings for HxH but can't decide which one he wants to use. He also constantly changes his mind about things.

Manga spoilers below- He still cannot use Nen, in the manga he tries to summon his aura but can’t. He has a conversation with Ging regarding his lack of Aura. To paraphrase Ging basically tells him he threw it away with his restriction and he’s lucky that he’s alive back to ‘normal’ though he also states he could see Gons aura implying it may still be there but Gon just can’t see it. But as it stands he returns to Mito to live a normal life for now.
