I’d recommend on or off camera you guys should give YYH a try. It’s Togashi’s first shounen manga and you’ll see a lot of the blueprint for HxH, but also with its own style. Carter might also like it more because admittedly HxH can get lost in the details, but YYH focuses way less on the details and exposition and has a much more succinct presentation.

The election arc definitely drops down on the rankings on the rewatch even though I loved 147-148. Overall, what an amazing show and it's been a fun journey with you guys. Chimera Arc is still easily my favorite in the show. The characters, battles, and moments in that arc are just so top-tier even if the pacing was a little off at times.

Gon put enormous pressure on himself to live up to Ging's expectations. He idealized him so much, thinking that he had to be the strongest both physically and mentally to have the right to meet him and reach his expectations. So indeed Ging indirectly asked him to take the hunter exam and to play the game Greed Island but in itself the exam remained largely within Gon's abilities and Ging never really asked him to finish the game but just that he take some pleasure. At no time did he ask him to confront Hisoka or for him to fight against the Chimera ants for the right to meet him, it was never necessary. But Gon got it into his head that to have the right to meet his father he had to acquire physical and mental strength capable of utterly defeating his opponent. But in the end Gon met Ging through a simple coincidence, showing that he never really needed to go through all these trials. And above all, Gon realized that the man he idealized so much was in reality just a man. This is how Gon became free (from his burden).

Awesome to watch this with yall. The beauty of this show is that the main characters are not actually the center of the universe, the plot doesnt revolve around them, like brig said. This is just a bunch of different people living their lives and stuff happening lol. But thats also why its so unique compared to everything else iv watched. One thing to point out and im sure others have said it already but I never checked. Based on what Ging said about Kite’s nen abilities being made by him its safe to assume that Ging placed restrictions and covenants on his abilites. Kite uses a slot machine so he cant choose his weapon (restriction) The slot machine is loud, annoying, and always talks, so theres no stealth involved (covenant) It also doesnt go away until it gets used (restriction) The weapons are all oversized compared to Kite’s stature, the scythe, gun, and katana are all massive and hard to weild (covenant) Pretty crazy that his Nen is just casually using 4 pacts to make it more powerful.

So I just want to say the “ending” of this show is so amazing for a couple reasons. 1. It leaves you feeling complete like the story is at a stopping point where the arcs have concluded in a cohesive way. 2. It gives a sense of wonder when the tree shot pans wide and you see the open world that is left to explore, its such an amazing way to show how much left there is to give in this universe. 3. The ending is a promisary note to all the viewers. It essentially says “get ready cause when this show comes back its gonna be all out mayhem” and I love that because it lets people know that it will continue eventually and doesnt just end to an abrubt hault. 4. Ging telling Gon that their ancestor Don is still out there writing the second half of his book is so insane, dude has been traveling the most dangerous place in their world by himself for YEARS not just a few years but based on Netero’s age its likely hundreds of years. So Don must be HIM. I truly do love this series because it was my first anime ive watched and its such a great introduction story to the world of anime. It has just the right amount of normal stuff along with weird and mystery stuff. It kinda was how ATLA introduced me to animated shows in general. Much love Geks for watching this masterpiece of a show❤️

Forgot to mention that, the reason why ending the series with the election arc feels unconventional is because it primarily serves as a transitional arc, simply laying the groundwork for the next arc. While I understand why people might not enjoy it, and it does feel drawn out at times, it's definitely not a filler arc since the next arc focuses more on the zodiacs and the association. Plus, they couldn't continue the anime because they caught to manga and there was literally 1 chapter left, and the next chapter came out nearly 4 years after.

Sorry for the length TL;DR: The anime felt like the end of the progulue and the real story begins with the Dark Continent. HxH is an amazing series with great potential but suffers from hiatuses due to Togashi's health issues. Togashi's health struggles are heartbreaking, and I hope he prioritizes his well-being. The anime wraps up very well. Consider reading the manga from that start or at chapter 340 for post-anime content. Also, watch or read Yu Yu Hakusho, another fantastic work by Togashi. Wow, what a journey! It's so sad that it's come to an end, but I've truly enjoyed watching your reactions to one of my favorite anime/manga series. Like Brig said, everything we've seen so far feels almost like a prologue, and the real story has just begun with the introduction of the Dark Continent. Allow me to be a bit selfish here, but I genuinely believe that HxH has the potential to be one of the greatest manga series ever made if it didn't have so many hiatuses. It could have been as long and expansive as One Piece, for all we know. There's still possibility that could happen, but who knows. It's truly disheartening to hear about Togashi's health struggles. For those who don't know, he has been suffering from chronic back pain for years now, and it has become very difficult for him to draw. At one point, he wasn't even able to sit in a chair for two years due to the pain. I believe in the past few years he only drew while lying down. He has reluctantly gotten some assistants to help him, but I think he still very much prefers to do it on his own, probably due to his pride as an author. He's one of my favorites, and I love this series so much that seeing that man suffer breaks my heart. I'm not an author or anything, but I know that not being able to work on something you poured so much time, effort, and care into is one of the most devastating feelings ever. However, I'd prefer him to take his time and release a chapter every so often, even consider passing it on to an assistant/another author, or just straight up retire rather than risking his health further. We've already lost so many amazing and talented authors in the past few years, so I would hate to see another goat disappear. We gotta appreciate our legends while they are still with us. That being said, I think the anime did an incredible job of concluding the series thus far while also leaving the door open for the future. I recommend reading the manga from the start, but if you only want to know what's after the anime, start at chapter 340; the manga is currently at chapter 400, and Togashi really packs a lot into those 60 chapters. That's why some people say it could be animated due to the amount of content it has. So I must warn you, there is a lot of information and exposition in those chapters that feels more like a novel than a manga at times. Finally, I hope you guys check out Yu Yu Hakusho, a classic and another one of his great works!

If you ever do another HxH vid going over your favourite moments, characters and ranking arcs and stuff, there's a fanmade opening of the next arc 'Succession War'. It's only 1 min 19 seconds long so prob isn't enough for its own vid, but it's cool Also one thing I think would be cool is if you guys did reactions to video essays or general YouTube vids about shows you've reacted to. Canon could stream it if he ever wanted to I just remember Carter talking about how he listened to a long AoT video essay way back and think it'd be cool if you reacted to ones you were thinking of watching anyway (if any), so it's not adding a bunch of extra work Aleczandxr has some good ones on HxH, AoT, FMAB, Breaking Bad, LOTR, Death Note etc HxH in particular has a ridiculous amount of character depth that tends to go unnoticed. Gon and Chrollo are the best examples of this, so the vids on them are prob the best first I'm not recommending this stuff be scheduled in or anything btw, just if you guys were curious about a certain character, or wanted something explained, it'd be a cool little piece to accompany the reaction series

I like how after seeing KURAPIKA again in the manga how quick he goes back to being the top favourite lol. His quote of how he managed to collect the eyes he has now is epic. Goes something like ''There were many influential people who had bought the eyes from the black market and I tried to convince them to give back the eyes to me but no amount of money and valuables could convince them otherwise. i love the juxtaposition between gon and kurapika in the final episode. gon lived life the same way ging lays it out and has all these amazing experiences with new friends along his journey to find his dad while kurapika pushed everything aside to focus on his goal and is alone and (seemingly) dissatisfied with where things are for him while missing out on huge events like the near-death of his close friend. also, i might be reading too far into the end but i felt like the world tree kind of represents gon. both embody huge potential and growth and while they reach amazing heights they could've gone so much further if that growth wasn't stunted (gon's loss of his nen and the tree not getting enough nutrients to reach beyond the atmosphere).

Every friend I've recommended Hunter x Hunter to, I always tell them the anime has an ending (no one was able to predict what I meant by that which is good) and you won't necessarily feel the need to continue it in the manga. This is the perfect ending to the series imo. (I will watch the anime if it ever gets a continuation though as I'm aware there's still amazing stuff that hasn't been animated.)

So there's like 60 chapters after the anime ending, if those are adapted into the anime it would take like 35 to 40 episodes based on the amount of content these chapters hold (Many of those 60 chapters are longest chapters we've seen worldwide) it delves into this new ark and its soo good. Also they may just take a 24 episodes season if adapted.

goated show, its been good re-watching through these vides since I haven't seen it in some time, I'm really not mad about where the show ends off, its a really good, well placed intermission in the manga and for a series it gives us a place to stop that doesnt feel stilted or unnatural, but leaves the door open for more (if we ever get it). At this point I'm content with just slowly reading everything Togashi puts out as he writes it, I treat a HxH chapter like a surprise gift from a friend I haven't seen in a while lol.

The threat to kill the koala was a formality. Kite was effectively tunneling the Koala into the solution to his problem. Since the Koala was overthinking how to break the cycle, effectively Kite said here, I will provide you with work that you can use to atone for your internal strife due to killing the girl. Effectively, over time basically inferring that it would turn into the life cycle of redemption and change the Koala wanted. Then Kite says "If ever your current resolve slips (the resolve to not spoil this life and live it differently) I'll kill you...so you can focus on living" Meaning basically don't think about it at all or let it distract you, instead here is your path - to stray from it is death. So the threat is still concerning surely, but also kind of ...compassionate in a weird way? It's as if he's releasing him of the burden through it. Yeah, Togashi I guess. Cheers on the journey though, and we should all hope the manga continues and gets animated - because even if we got what's already been written but isn't animated....sheesh.

Why don't you guys try to watch the 1999 version of hxh? Its atmosphere is so much better and darker than this version. The fights and music are fantastic as well. The 2011 version is like a kids version compared to the 1999.

It’s so hard to rank HxH arcs for me because so many of them would be interchangeable in the rankings. My top three, though, are definitely 1. Yorknew 2. Heaven’s Arena 3. Hunter Exam (I know most people have this one near the bottom, but man, it just sucked me in)

They didn't waste time after 339 in the manwha, they picked up the pace very quick and straight to details and build up story. Just like the weird transition that you felt after Greed Island ended and straight to Chimera (that's the feeling of the transition when you read after the anime)
