I think it’s really popular with women because typically it’s the first time they really get to see the camaraderie brother-in-arms culture that most high school sports teams have. For school athletes, it’s just a “day in a life”. IMO for most of you, it’ll end up just being wholesome nostalgia. It’s well executed, fun, but it’s super generic and nothing special. Brig might find it HELLA boring cuz it’s just another tennis day for him.

OPM is hilarious and has amazing fights of course. Haikyuu can get tense w the actual matches of volleyball of course but when I watched it I found myself wanting to be friends with the characters, they're so fun on their own!

People saw that it wasn't as good as S1 (which is almost impossible to replicate) and the ghosting/ dimming (confusing that with bad animation) and then just wrote it off. Also JC Staff was barely given any time to animate the show. They didn't drop the ball, they got passed the ball and then got their hands chopped off lol

The comedy really lands better imo and as a minority dub enjoyer (from time to time) I should at least share my perspective. They assembled some of the best animators, directors, and designers at the time to create it. It's truly a showcase of their skill, talent, and experience. We can see some of the differences in fights scenes with the fluidity, dynamic shots, and sick impact frames. Two notable animators whom you may already be familiar with are Arifumi Imai, who created many of the craziest and most memorable scenes in AOT, and Itsuki Tsuchigami, who animated and directed JJK S2 ep. 16 & 17 and animated Chainsaw Man ep. 8. There are many other animators with similar levels of skill and talent working on this project as well, like one of my personal favorites, Yutaka Nakamura (Key animator for Cowboy Bebop, FMA, Soul Eater, My Hero) However, it's not Madhouse Studios that deserves praise, but rather one man: the director, Shingo Natsume, who is well-connected in the industry, pretty much the popular kid at school. Most of the team were freelancers, not part of Madhouse, who joined because of their friendship or past work with the director. (I recommend checking out Space Dandy, directed by the same director, and Shinichiro Watanabe, the creator-director of Cowboy Bebop, which involves some of the same animators who worked on OPM.)

2024-04-11 22:10:46 +0000 UTCOPM was an independent manga that got so popular that when they did season 1 they went all out on crazy levels of animation to try and do the amazing manga work justice. Season 2 was handled by a different studio with less budget so compared to season 1 it doesn't reach the same level of mindblowing animation, but it still looks good and is still a great season. The show is an action comedy and it likes to play with a lot of tropes in anime, but also because he's super OP the writing has to be more creative than "struggling against an opponent and powering up."

Unserious/goofy-looking Saitama is modeled after One's original drawings. Then in 2012, a new illustrator came along and in collaboration with One they started it over as a full fledged manga series. Then the anime was released in 2016. The manga is still ongoing to this day, though chapters are released slowly.

2024-04-11 20:47:21 +0000 UTCmy 2 cents on OPM s1: very good! some of the best animation you will ever see and the story is simple and fun s2: didnt bother watching after e1, the new studio dropped the ball and the animation is straight ass, like imagine solo leveling but with shit tier art and animation, kinda kills the immersion i hope when this show picks back up they will let someone handle it properly! manga is very good and has some of the best artwork ive seen, it would be a shame for the anime to be low quality 😭
