I’m pretty sure I commented something about it way back when but without spoilers obviously. Partially why I love watching all these shows again with you guys is cause I’m noticing so many more details i missed my first time watching.

The Blind Alchemist lost his eyes, in exchange for bringing the young girl back, because he wanted to see her again. And yes, everyone has their own individual truth. But its also not individual. Its part of the whole "I am Truth. I am God. I am the universe. And I am you.". Everyone has their own version of truth. All Truth's are the same, but each person has their own version. Confusing as fuck, but it makes sense at the same time.

2024-04-28 06:53:25 +0000 UTCI think wanting Ed to be "goated" is where FMAB is unlike other shonen. There isn't really an actual power system here where rock beats paper beats scissors. Normal humans, normal alchemists with normal human bodies- have to rely on their own physical strength and the knowledge they've acquired from fights and the chemical structures they've memorized to perform alchemy. The philosopher's Stone may be a buff because you have something pre charged with the energy of souls and don't have to rely on hand movements and making contact with a physical object or having the right materials near you to produce what you want-but you still have to know what you want to make and have enough of a fighting intellect to do anything meaningful. One person just being insanely powerful to where no one else can shine a light to is kind of the antithesis of the story and is basically what Father is trying to to become. There never is or was something the characters could've done to just suddenly give them an insane boost like a domain expansion or landing a black flash would, it doesn't exist in this universe. I would also argue that taking any of our characters on the good side out wouldn't lead to the outcome we've arrived at so far. Everything we've seen is from hundreds of people collectively working with each other and having faith/trust in one another. If any one of them decided they didn't think the countries government was actually bad or that their allies were telling the truth, and bailed on the plan or passing of information, things wouldn't have worked out

2024-04-28 03:23:46 +0000 UTCThere's speculation on whether or not truth seemed to understand mustang didn't open the portal on his own volition. Everyone else that we've seen open it got body parts physically taken away with a bloody mess left behind (except al cause it was the whole thing). Truth could've just straight up taken mustangs eyes, but instead it seems maybe the cones and rods in his eyes were disturbed, or maybe just the connection between the optical nerve and the brain. I've also seen Alphonse body in the portal being referred to Als "truth". The truth that Ed encounters is seen taking his leg into its body when he first encountered it. Then when he goes through again, before he sees Als body, we see that truth now has eds leg and the arm he paid in order to pull Als soul out of the portal. In place of that Al just encounters his body instead of the blank truth figure.

Truth took Mustangs vision, because he had a vision for the future. So he's completely blind. Also, Jack's right. Ed knows nothing about Al's soul leaving his body. It started happening during the snow storm, and since then they were reunited for 2 minutes while Al was in that dome with Pride, so Ed has no way of piecing it together.

2024-04-27 06:42:38 +0000 UTCFor a seeing person it's still basically impossible to imagine what it's like to be fully blind, even for a one eyed person when they close the one eye they have they'll see the back of their eyelid.. closing one eye (or not having it) is indeed the closest we can get to imagining what it might be like, but because you still see just fine with the other one you can't actually know or even imagine what it would "look" like. It is trippy for sure

It doesn’t have a personality or motive and I don’t think truth is necessarily god (at least in the usual sense), but rather a sort of law that runs everything. It is in you and everywhere around you. However, it materializes itself as a humanoid form in your subconscious or whatever place that is where the gates are. So he’s not really an antagonist but he’s there to ensure that the laws of alchemy follow through. Idk maybe this didn’t really help but yea truth isn’t anything more than LITERALLY everything personified to oversee alchemic law and balance created by energy and taboo transmutations.
