Sub is a lot better than dub on this one. People gonna push for dub because they like Lelouche's dub voice (although the Japanese VA literally won awards for voice acting Lelouch and is still better overall), but the side character's dubs are awful and ruin (or at least dampen the impact) of the best scenes in the show. I would have a tough time watching through the dub knowing y'all would be missing out on the better version of the show.

In Frieren, there's themes involving the importance of friendship, dealing with grief, and leaving a legacy; there are universal lessons that can be learn from the story in Frieren which applies to almost everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, etc. The part in the story which shows how vulnerable humans are, and for which Frieren herself knows is a weakness of humans, was well written.

Hes a goat of english voice acting, and his lelouch performance is actually one of the best examples out there for english voice acting. And yeah it's also just really fun to share an experience with other people and reaction channels provide an outlet for that, especially if you don't have friends who are interested in anime/shows/movies or whatever.

For me, I love when people react to shows I’ve seen and fell in love with (while ofc also welcoming some new shows) just because I know how I reacted to it when I first saw it so I want to see how others react to it. And if it’s an anime I thought was really cool, I want to see other people end up falling in love with it too. It’s the same for kpop and Asian dramas for me as well. I believe that if we like something, we have this urge and tendency to want to show it off to others and see how they think of it (or at least a lot of people might feel this way like I do)

I think some people were just smearing Frieren because they wanted other shows to win lol. Frieren is amazing. But Code Geass is a top tier anime (especially for reactions) and will provide a lot more discussion compared to Frieren because it has a complex plot and characters with tons of depth. Code Geass is not primarily an "action" anime and is in the same range as AOT and 86 in terms of genre imo. That being said, I do think it would be interesting to see them watch Frieren at some point since it is much different than anything they've watched so far.

Okay I have some thoughts about this poll and about what some people have been saying in regards to some of the shows. First of all, congrats to Code Geass for winning. Personally, I was hoping that Frieren would win since I've never seen Code Geass. However, instead of some immature people in the comments who want to put down the shows that they haven't voted for because they're mad or whatever, I'll say this. I remember wanting FMAB to win the poll back in September and I was not happy when HxH won it instead, but then I watched HxH and now I would say that's it's in my top 5. I would still say FMAB is better but now I'm glad that HxH won that poll otherwise I might have never given it a chance, so since Code Geass has won this poll when I have the time I'll watch it and I hope that after I finish I can look back at this poll and be glad it won, regardless of if I think Frieren is still better or not. Plus Frieren is probably going to win the next poll anyway. Secondly, as I said I'm not disappointed that Code Geass won, but I am unhappy with some of the comments that people have been putting. My main concern, I guess, would be with the people that have been saying that Frieren is "extremely slow/boring" or "a horrible show for reactions". Isn't this whole poll so that they can watch different kinds of shows?? Isn't the reason that they didn't put some of the usual options on this poll so that they could watch something different/something aimed at a different audience?? It's super backwards to say "I'm not voting for this show because it's not the type of thing they usually watch so I don't think they'll like it". Well then, LET'S SEE IF THEY LIKE IT OR NOT, THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT! I think it's pretty boring when they just watch the same kinds of mindless action shows again and again. Sure, it is a "fun watch", but the discussions basically boil down to "wow, that fight scene was really cool" "yep, it sure was" "and I like this character" "yeah, I like him too". That's not a fault of the boys there just really isn't that much to say about those kinds of anime. That's why shows like AoT, Vinland Saga, Death Note, and FMAB are so much more entertaining to watch a reaction for and that's also why I believe shows like Steins;Gate and Frieren would be a good watch, especially considering we haven't really seen reactions to animes like that on this channel. There's also the fact that all of that discourse is around Frieren of all things which is a show I would definitely NOT consider to have no hype action moments. Some of the best animated sequences of at least the past year have been from Frieren. It has been at minimum on the level of Solo Levelling if not Jujutsu Kaisen. It IS tecnically still a shounen at heart. Not to mention they've already seen less-shouneny shows than Frieren before (Vinland Saga and Death Note). Honestly, it just doesn't make me look forward to when anime's that are ACTUALLY slow and have no action (like Steins;Gate) get into the top 2 of a poll. Looking back at what I've typed I MIGHT have yapped a bit too much, but everything said is true and I hope others agree 🙃 (looking forward to watching Code Geass)

I see quite a few people comparing CG with AoT and I find it so odd. The only things in common they have are scale and an overall theme, but they explore and show it very differently. I would never be like "Oh, you liked AoT, then watch CG they are so alike". It's completely different show, so please don't expect anything like AoT. It's still a golden anime but in a very different way. If anything I could compare CG with Death Note, just in bigger scale.

Yup. Lelouch is great in the Dub, but he's just as good in sub (and IMO better) and the rest of the characters have so much more emotion and just sound natural. The dub sounds like they are reading off of lines and the voice acting for characters like Nunnally are terrible.

I'd definitely disagree with that. As someone who watched the sub first and then watched some dub to compare, the dub is really bad, and I'm not even a sub snob. (I like AOT and FMAB dubbed) People say the dub is good because Lelouch has a cool voice, but the dub completely strips all the emotion and natural flow out of the show. The female characters like Nunnally and Kallen sound awful and a lot of their scenes are borderline ruined haha.

I agree, it's definitely somewhat overrated. I fucking loved it when I was young and I still love it just from attachment to the characters and it's one I have great memories of being super into it with mates and stuff. Watched it in the last few years as an adult and it just didn't hit the same. Things felt forced and the writing was kind of shoddy tbh. A lot of flair with not too much depth. That said, I don't think it's even close to bad, just overrated. It's still fun to watch if you can turn your brain off a little and not think too hard.

I’ve been waiting for quite a few anime ( that have been on many polls now ) to get a chance but always seem to miss out. The ones I really want are both Haikyuu and Mob but these aren’t on this poll since they aren’t Seinen. So I’m giving my vote to another anime that’s been on just as many polls and one that I would actually watch reactions to. Why would I vote for a newer anime that doesn’t interest me when they already did one ( solo leveling ), I wanna be able to watch their reactions to anime I have interest in. At the moment, since now that Vinland, JJK, FMAB & HXH are done, all I’m watching are their Naruto reactions now. I don’t care for the other series they’re reacting to at the moment & if they pick up another one that I don’t particularly care for then that’s gonna suck big time. So the logical conclusion is to vote for a series in which I enjoy too

I'm never not gonna vote for Steins;Gate, it no-diffs everything. Code Geass would still be a goated reaction though and Parasyte would be decent too. Just please not Frieren (good show, but didn't live up to the hype for me and not a great reaction show imo, at least up to where I stopped ~ep17). I watched Code Geass and Parasyte both for the third time in the last few years and neither hit as hard as the first two times. Steins;Gate has never not hit in the 4 times I've seen it. I know I'm gonna be hella depressed when they watch in sub though. Can't imagine Lelouch being voiced by anyone other than Jonny Yong Bosch, that shit is iconic. Best voice in all of anime imo. The final moments of S1 is one of my favourite moments and it just doesn't hit as hard in sub for me. Also, J. Micheal Tatum's portrayal of Okabe is like 25% of the reason I love Steins;Gate.

Frieren has amazing characters, unique commentary on the passage of time, an incredible OST, animation that can go insanely hard, emotional moments, etc… basically it has something to love for everyone and is as high quality as you can get. I highly recommend it I just like Code Geass more haha.

Code Geass has its place in anime history, but the amount of praise ppl are showering it with is a bit over the top. It will show how it aged badly when the boys end up seeing it for themselves, and not because of the animation quality. It's plot and themes aren't gonna feel as impactful as they did back then. It's just had it's time. And especially, for the boys, it will not hit as hard when they have seen AOT that hit harder and on so many more levels. This show will just be a watered down bad version of something similar they have seen, but with more cringe anime moments they can roll their eyes at. Code Geass is a show you should watch when you are a teenage boy really. When you get somewhat more mature it tends to seem a bit boring. All the other entries on this list will stand the test of time much better than Code Geass sadly.

Lots of high school drama and a protagonist that they try to present as an L level super genius. Personally I did not like it at all when I first watched it. Granted this was long ago and it was one of the first anime I watched and similar to the gek guys I also started off with a lot preconceptions about anime and I definitely wasn't that open minded to it. Maybe I'll like it now that I have watched a ton of anime, cuz I definitely remember some redeeming qualities to it, and there have been plenty of anime I hated on first watch that became my favorites on later watches(fate Zero for example).

I have the feeling the "haters" (Cannon and Carter) won't like Code Geass. I think it falls in the realms of what they thought it was 'anime' and the reason they didn't like it. I had to force myself to finish it cuz a friend told me it was amazing. So that combined with the high rating on imdb gave me high hopes and expectations. I was very disappointed 😂

Literally everyone who replied either said "yeah well..." or "ur wrong" with no follow up rebuttal. So basically everyone agrees Frieren is boring even when defending it.

Imagine still thinking "everyone has their own opinion" is a worthwhile rebuttal. I don't understand how this is still many peoples' go-to defensive response. Unreal.

Personally I don't understand the hype around Frieren, I watched 7 episodes and just got bored of it. No I'm not just an action anime guy. I watch sports, Romance, comedies all the same. Maybe I'm missing out, but I know code geass is a banger.
