2024-07-08 00:59:02 +0000 UTCyour 100 % right about something always being wrong with the subtitles across every platform, other older animes don't really have an issue with the english translation/subtitles so I don't know why its so prevalent for naruto no matter the streaming platform but I think thats why people have been asking the geks at the very least to just simply watch Naruto with the english dub script for the subtitles (CC). Dialogue literally makes or breaks a show & its obvious that the poor subtitles have gotten in the way of some great scenes aswell as the geks understanding of powers & certain themes. Literally, 15 episodes ago when Itachi appeared in the leaf, because of the terrible subtitles thoughrout the entire show, the geks still didn't know what kekkei genkai 🤦🏾♂️ meant when it was the animes intention to establish that in the very first arc of the show (land of waves arc) & has been constantly reintroduced throughout the other arcs.. Even the awesome scenes that the geks have enjoyed watching could have been even that much better with solid subtitles. We just want the geks to enjoy & experience the show the best they possibly can - the whole point of why we pay to watch there reactions is to see there raw unedited reaction,critiques, enjoyment, opinions, responses etc. to a show we enjoyed watching ourselves & its a disappointing when there enjoyment/understanding of a phenomenal show is hindered by something as small as subtitles which they can easily switch

On one hand, I understand is done in order for Kishimoto to have more freedom in how he approaches fights and power scaling, but on the other hand it makes it so there seems to be no ceiling to how powerful Jutsu can become; it feels like, as long as the user has enough chakra and knows the right Ninjutsu, they can achieve basically anything, and Jutsu themselves can be improved potentially with no limits.

This is definitely not the case with Naruto, though, the dub sounds corny for the most part, especially when it comes to Naruto; although both versions are voiced by a woman, the japanese VA sounds much more convincing once Naruto matures.

That said, we should take this kind of quotes with a grain of salt regardless, as saying "hokage level" or reffering to "the power of a hokage" is very vague, especially at this point of the story when the power scaling is not fully developed yet. A character being "as powerful as a hokage" doesn't really tell you much about how strong they are.

It is listed as mixed canon/filler n some sites, but it is canon material and has to do with the GOAT Rock Lee, so I highly recommend making sure you hit it before going to the next arc, especially as it basically finishes the story of these 2 episodes before moving on.

So you wont get a big explanation about every little bit of it immediately, but over time. If the show was giving you a full university level course on chakra it would be boring blatant exposition and would make no sense from a narrative standpoint. This way the characters are explaining most of their abilities when the context requires the other characters or you the viewer to understand.

When Naruto tells him about having everyone make personal promises to Konohamaru it shows him acknowledging his feelings despite them being somewhat unreasonable. He let's him have his feelings instead of dismissing them which in old times even in America, kids were not meant to be seen or heard around adults unless allowed. I think many of us that have been through that grief can watch this with no issues, that's not saying everyone relates the same way. Plus again this is a kids show in a way so they are trying not to totally depress the viewers who may be reminded of their own loss by adding the extra comedy. I mean even for some adults it can touch nerves if it's the loss is too recent so I think this was wonderfully made also keeping in mind someone could be going through something crazy like Lee.
