I tried to see if someone said this already, and honestly have never seen it on any other react, but Varys 100% spells out his plans and motivations every time he talks, and especially in the scene with Tyrion drinking. Where were they? Where was Dany in episode 1? What did he tell Ned? Who was he talking to when Arya saw him? All the answers are right there. The show didn't make it clearer somehow, but most seem to completely miss every indication. Go back and watch that scene and listen to every word of the dialogue without interruption, it's right there. I know its hard, but in each scene the dialogue will start, then basically end answering your question, but you gotta actually hear it all the way through to connect it. Varys is also my fav character, LF is second fr, the misunderstanding of their motives and the way the show deals with them are my biggest GoT peeves.

This is one point where I say that the storyline for Mance and Stannis in the show deviates significantly from the books at this point and I really recommend reading them for a much better story at this point. I think it’s easy to say that Martin was quite disappointed with the choices made for those two characters at this point in the show.

Aryas bravos story to me will always be terrible. Sansa’s storyline is fairly good, at least I felt some emotion watching that story. While Valyrians have some intrinsic magic within them, I think their ability to control it has waned since the Dance. Also, I don't think you have to have Valyrian blood to ride a dragon, it probably just helps.

I'm a season 4 is peak guy. I think season 5 and 6 are still fairly good and they get more hate than they deserve. But I think it's easy for some to conflate seasons 5 and 6 with 7 and 8 since the writing goes down a bit. Also, by the end of season 5, we're out of book material.

This isn't a spoiler for the show but if you want to read the books, don't read this. Mance isn't dead in the books as he's replaced with Rattleshirt (the Lord of Bones guy). Stannis and Melisendre are likely aware of this, if not complicit in it. If I'm not mistaken, the other 4-5 people Stannis burned consisted of a traitor and men who resorted to cannibalism to survive during their travels. The show makes him a bit more one-dimensional, which sucks.

Daenerys actually has a stronger bond with all three dragons than any other targaryen as they see her as their legitimate mother, remember she hasn’t rode any of them but shes still deeply connected to all three, the issue is dragons have been gone for so long and there’s no other Targaryen to teach her how to deal with them.

Keep in mind that dragons haven't been seen in Westeros for hundreds of years and Daenerys obviously wasn't taught to ride dragons that didn't exist. She has to learn all of these things on her own rather than from experienced people. The only knowledge she has is likely from Viserys.

I don’t think they really appreciate how disconnected Dany is from everything they see in HotD. Dragons have been gone for more than a century at his point. The only thing Dany knows about her ancestors is what Viserys and a few other people told her and Viserys was a little kid when he left Westeros so his knowledge is lacking. There is no reason to expect Dany would have any idea how to control the dragons. As no one living has any idea because the dragons are long gone. Her even teaching them the most basic things was just through sheer trial and error and it was also when they were helpless little hatchlings. Now that they are large beasts, there is not the same margin for error.

Why would the dragons respond to High Valyrian speech? They have no Valyrian Dragons trainers speaking it to them. In any case, Dany knows no more about dragons than any random Westerosi. The trouble with watching GoT and HotD out of order is that one makes too many erroneous assumptions. This is GoT so HotD means little; it's ancient history at this point.

Time for a yap sesh! Because of how the Starks are portrayed in the show, many viewers believe that honor is simply a part of their house, but this isn't the case. Ned Stark was an honorable man, but he was not the norm for his house. As with any house in this world, there is variation. One example would be their treatment of House Blackwood. House Blackwood claims to have ruled over the wolfswood (likely known as the blackwood back then), which is supported by certain runic translations. During this time, the Starks are said to have driven them from their home and exiled their house to the Riverlands; this is where they reside in HotD. There are also examples of killing kings and taking their daughters as brides to gain power. I just thought it was an interesting bit of history you wouldn't learn from the show.

But the Dorne plotline in this season, which is crap, is an original storyline and is not based on the books. The books had a different Dorne storyline which was much more complex.

GoT doesn't really put nearly as much emphasis on High Valyrian commands to Dragons outside of "Dracarys". We see it in HotD that dragons are highly intelligent, magical creatures. For instance, Aegon's limited knowledge of the language, but he can still "control" Sunfyre and possess a deep bond with him. So yeah it would have been a nice touch for Dany to speak more High Valyrian to Viserion and Rhaegal, but common tongue or High Valyrian, they're not gonna listen in this particular case.

The Children of the forest are a mysterious race (like the Giants) and the original inhabitants of Westeros. Many were wargs and green seers; they wed the trees and had were highly connected to animals and nature. The "First Men" (e.g humans) migrated to Westeros later and through time, warred and intermingled with the Children over 1000s of years. That is why the North still follows the "Old ways" and worship the "Old gods" which is similar to what the Children practiced. The Children are considered a myth now and have thought to have all died out 1000s of years ago.
