You guys that that right, but they also say that No. 8 is the FIRST one to get away. They number them based on uniqueness and strength (assumedly). Thus, all the ones prior to Kafka have been killed. It's an easy mistake to make though. I had to explain this a couple of times to someone lol

Many main characters, are like copy and paste, and many aspects of Kafska is but isn't at the same time. I love how he's not always got a boner to use his hidden ultra power whenever for whatever. This anime's got a lot of layers, it seems, and I'm shook each time one's peeled back. P.S. I was also as surprised by how Hoshino's character has been unveilng.

2024-07-17 16:50:33 +0000 UTCI'm a manga reader, and to my understanding, they classified kaiju based on fortitude: yoju < honju < daikaiju (which has fortitude from 8.0 and above). Daikaiju that caused massive destruction and gave people hard time to defeat it will be numbered in the order of their appearance. Thus, Kafka is the 8th one so he is Kaiju #8. You'll get to see the other "big boys" as the story goes on!!

It's probably due to the blushing. However when you think about the fact that she's 16-18, the older brother/father dynamic makes more sense as well. Especially with that scene when he saves her and lectures her about doing her best to stay safe.

2024-07-17 11:54:47 +0000 UTCI'm glad that you're finally discovering how awesome Hoshina is. It was an instant like for me so I was confused why you all thought he was sus. But anw, when I was reading the manga what really caught my attention was how likable all the characters were. There are no typical asshole type characters that you eventually learn to like once you get their backstory, no bullies, no anything. Just straight up people having normal interactions with each other with some harmless teasing thrown in. Take Iharu for instance, he could've been your typical jealous colleague who resents Ichikawa's success. But in the face of death, he pleaded for his friend's life not his own and earned my eternal respect. So yeah, the anime's not exactly groundbreaking but I'd be hard pressed to choose a character that I could bear to lose.
