they are based off the books… everyone who read the books knew when things started changing and when the books finished. then came online articles and videos covering this in real time. so yeah i agree you could see when it started changing but they are already set up with this so far in advance that they are WAYYYY more aware of it than anyone who watched it in real time was. i’m just saying that’s why the change seems so abrupt and obvious to them cause they knew it was coming

It's not really relevant to the show, but in the books they dont go through Valyria. No ship or boat can pass through the ruins of Valyria and the smoking sea, the Doom still rules there, meaning it's a hellscape overrun by demons and magical beasts.

I'm a book nerd. I think season 5 is still decent but they definitely fucked a few things up. Barristan isn't dead, Sansa isn't sold to the Boltons, and all of Dorne for instance. Plus the way Dany makes her match is pretty cheesy in the show (I don't remember how it happens in the book though).

Apart from a few major grievances that I have, seasons 5-6 are still enjoyable. Having book knowledge can be frustrating because you see where things change for the worse and it's often for no reason. There are some major plot holes, some characters develop poorly, and others just do things that seem out of place for their characters.

The unsullied are trained to fight in groups. They are not great at 1v1s so it’s no surprise that when they got ambushed and outnumbered they wouldn’t be able to fight for themselves. They’re good at defensive tactics, coordinated attacks and have discipline but that’s about it.🚶‍♀️

Yeah, I can agree with that. While I don’t believe that seasons 5 and 6 made “horrible” mistakes, they had their issues. The most notable to me is that they definitely butchered some characters’ personalities and couldn’t keep up with them. However, as I commented, I don’t believe these are endgame mistakes, and season 6 did a pretty good job setting everything up for act 3. Also, these two remaining seasons have really good moments—some may say the best moments in the show. And from a more personal and biased perspective, I genuinely enjoy seasons 5 and 6, as I consider episode 6x10 the end of the show. I’ll leave you my ranking of seasons 1-6. See if you agree: 1. The first Reek was someone close Ramsey at a young age (like a fool or servant or something, I forget exactly) who died and then Ramsey has turned many different people he takes as prisoner to the Reek persona, they just die and he finds a new Reek. Roose thinks that psycho behavior has something to do with a connection from Ramsey’s childhood

I would definitely look up the history of Valyria and the "Doom of Valyria" in your free time if you haven't read the books yet. It has some of the most interesting stories and I think everyone would enjoy it. It would explain why Tyrion also was skeptical at first about sailing through Valyria to get to Mereen! Also, look up Aerea Targayen (do not worry, no spoilers for HotD or GoT are in it) because that is an example of what happens to people when they go to Valyria and why it was outlawed to visit there. I won't get into too many details for fear of spoiling but you guys would definitely enjoy it

Non spoiler book fun theory. In the books there is a theory that tyrion did contract grey scale. In the books he thinks about how grey scale can sort of just spontaneously start. like it could take a long time or a short time to start showing. you lose sensation in an infect body part and it just spreads from there. skin will turn grey. and eventually the whole stone flesh thing happens. All of the lannisters lose what makes them who they are. Jaime's hand, cerseis son, tywins dignity. What makes tyrion him? His tongue. and hes not checking his tongue in the books, they think if he did catch it the disease will first show in his fingers or toes. so he checks those daily. could be poetic

It would actually be fun to hear you guys guessing what is in the books and what isn’t. The truth is, bar a few cringe scenes, if you haven’t read the books then seasons 5 and 6 are still top tier. It’s just if you’ve read the books and know how the story should bet then you can’t help but notice what a mess they’re making of it. Everyone can agree season 7 and 8 are terrible for the most part.

The doom that fell upon Valyria is assumed to be some kind of big natural disaster that wiped them all out. In Valyria there were thousands of dragons and lots of other dragon lord families. The only families that escaped the doom are the Celtigars, Velaryons, and Targaryens. With the Targaryens being the only dragon lord family to escape. Even in Valyria the Targaryens were far from the most powerful house. They escaped the Doom because Daenys Targaryen saw the Doom in a vision, and they escaped to Dragonstone. My roman empire is Valyria cause it's so interesting how such a great civilization got wiped out so easily.

regardless of the plotlines that people have issues with or whatever with the later seasons. there still is amazing cinematography and some aspects that people did enjoy. i think we should let them decide for themselves if they think the show goes downhill or uphill from here. i think regardless of how season 8 was crafted, i love this show with my whole heart and im so excited for u guys to see the episodes to come🫶🏻

Brig, Roose was probably more like Ramsay when he was younger. From that Miller's wife story, I think you can see that a bit. Becoming a lord probably influenced this change in behavior. He still is cruel and not particularly honorable, but mostly when it will boost his position. Ramsay does these sorts of things for personal satisfaction.

This season is the weakest of the "good GoT" (S1 - 6) but still season 5 is very enjoyable, and the last four episodes go crazy. The show made a "compelling" case for their book changes in Season 6, with Season 5 being the season that deviated and introduced plots that most people didn't find up to the level, while changing or erasing plots that people were most looking forward to. That was their worst mistake.

On first watch, Ramsay is much more dislikeable than Joffrey but I found him a more interesting character. This continued on later watches, but I found Joffrey to be more enjoyable because of how absurd he is sometimes, it just comes across as funny.

The funny thing about kennelmasters is that House Clegane is descended from one. The first member of the house was a kennelmaster at Casterly Rock and he saved the life of Tytos Lannister (Tywin's father). He gained lordship because of this and it makes sense why their sigil is a hound.

Asking us to tell you guys what’s different from the books can be a loaded question. Sansa never is with the Bolton’s at Winterfell in the books. I think that is one that can be shared spoiler free. This was the HBO writers not George RR Martin. Sansa stays in the Vale in the books. Here is what George RR Martin says about it “My littlefinger would have never turned Sansa over to Ramsay. Never. He’s obsessed with her.”

Man if you guys worried about it ending I really think you should gone start the lore vids…it will give you more time with the thrones universe and it adds to the story as well telling more about the gods,places we visit(like harrenhal) and give you more about characters you wanted to hear more about. Even pedro is in the lore videos and he has some of the more epic dialogue in the vids.
