The scenes in episode 1 are THE part of the show. A lot of series/movies have this seen, where they show something that happens later and be like 'a week before'. It's a narrative CHOICE and PART OF THE WRITING.

2024-08-15 18:14:58 +0000 UTCNahhh you're wafflin, Bleach has much better pacing than O.G Naruto (not saying Shippuden) its also alot less childish quicker (Maybe something to do with Naruto airing on Cartoon Network idk) and also these guys have watched nothing but the new era of Anime so saying they watched things after AoT doesn't really do much haha you can't compare 12 Ep anime that are full of non stop action to a 500 episode one, of course its gonna be abit boring for guys like Cannon and Carter who haven't got that nostalgia factor working for them. Not saying they can't like it, the show does cook at alot of points but it does have ALOT of the usual silly anime tropes that get old super quickly even for someone like me that grew up on Naruto.

Thriller bark is the only arc that made me drop one piece, it took me actually a year to finish that arc, skypiea was close but I tried so hard not to drop it, but after the timeskip, the pacing is so bad all the way through.

Before that, its pacing is far better than OG Naruto. It honestly surprised me; I didnât remember early Narutoâs pacing being this bad.

Iâve tried to tell brig to not hype shippuden insanely up cause I feel like Carter thinks the second they go into shippuden itâs peak after peak, it does take a while but when itâs there, oh itâs there.

Iâm guilty of these type of comments as well and while thereâs nothing necessarily wrong with them some of these comments can be overbearing to read and for myself Iâve found at least when Iâm ever watching a new tv show or anime and have seen a lot on the internet about it already, if Iâm not constantly reminding myself to genuinely watch and formulate my own thoughts & opinions - I kind of get lost in expectations and it ruins my viewing experience. As âidcjayyyâ mentioned a big part of perceived plotholes comes from a lack of attention or understanding. But yes Naruto does indeed have some minor plotholes/odd narrative points throughout the story. It is extremely hard to avoid some when writing such a long, complex, intricate & expansive story and the anime community is aware that the minor ones that come nearing the end of Naruto were due to Kishimitoâs mental & physical exhaustion because of the lack of breaks he took during Narutoâs 15 year run. Even so, some of the geks favorite fiction such as ATLA, Game of Thrones, LOTR, Jacks favorite one piece etc etc. have some plot holes that can be nitpicked & pointed out but nonetheless they take extremely a little away from the enjoyment, phenomenal storytelling & writing of these masterpieces and this applies to Naruto just as much. To say that they hopefully end up reviewing this show with a âgrown takeâ & that McKay isnât able to pick up on certain things is rather pompous & pretentious. It feels like you guys are implying that to have Naruto as one of - if not your favorite anime oat can only be a result of somehow being less intellectually capable to the point where one is not aware of Narutos flaws and its overall Narrative structure which is just a straight up insult to Kishimitoâs brilliant writing & in this specific instance an insult to Brig & Mckay. It sort of reminds me of the intellectual superiority that some seinen enjoyers believe they have over those who tend to enjoy shonen more. To each there own of course but implying that to significantly enjoy Naruto requires some âdumbing downâ or lack of awareness from the viewers perspective imo is just ridiculous & quite the complete opposite at times considering the amount of attention & focus one needs to pick up on some of the intricacies, foreshadowing & depth within Naruto's story. Some things definitely go unnoticed or above your head so to say & this is obviously not a jab at the geks but quite a few things have already gone over there heads which is saying something considering theres 3 of them watching together for the first time & that throughout all the shows they watch they usually are always on top of things in regard to plot, nuances etc.

Later, your judgment is clouded with nostalgia, and u can't look at it realistically. This isn't just about Naruto, but for most of the shows. When u look at the show trough nostalgia, u can't see its flaws clearly. I love Bleach, watched it minimum 5 times growing up, but when trying to watch it again, I can't, it is not the same. I still like watching certain arcs, but now that I watched objectively better shows, I kind of outgrew it. I still rate it very highly, but I would not recommend someone watching it today.

2024-08-11 04:57:39 +0000 UTCI think a perfect example is the infamous opm scene when Genos & Saitama are sparring and before Saitamas punch connects he stops and while the entire canyon behind Genos has been decimated from the amount of force Saitamas punch generated, Genos was completely fine because he obviously scales higher & is more durable than any form of rock. You guy's haven't really had any confusion regarding fights & durability in other shows that I have seen your reactions to but I understand Naruto has a fairly unique power system so hope this explanation helped.

It's just simply that the characters & most shinobi have a higher durability than trees, rocks etc. Each characterâs durability scales to the amount & strength of there chakra so the average shinobi with decent chakra control is more durable than trees, rocks & whatnot. For example when Jiraiya hits the tree with the rasengan when he is training naruto - it completely took out a chunk of the tree but when kabuto was hit with Naruto's rasengan, his organs didn't just fly out, all he had was a large bruise on his torso and there are a lot of other examples with other jutsu used throughout the show.

Shippuden's peaks are what carry Naruto's legacy. And the back to back amazing arcs around the middle-ish of the series. Those who know, know. As for what you're saying abt fans switching up along the way, if I had to rank each arc in order without naming them (spoiler ig) I'd go 1st arc: 5.8/10, 2nd: 6.1/10, 3rd: 7.5/10, 4th: 9.8/10, 5th 10/10, 6th: 9.8/10, 7th: 8/10, 8th: 5.5/10?? I don't rly remember this one. 9th: 6/10 ig? 10th: (climax) 10/10. The rest of the show is this single arc split up into mini arcs i guess. I'd range them between 8-9/10 each. Conclusion is a 10/10. Even is the worst of worst arcs there are good moments in shippuden and the peaks are what kind of blind fans to the lows and honestly for good reason. A certain arc in this show genuinely changed my perception on anime forever.

Switching your mentality is pretty much a better way of saying turning your brain off a bit so that the real issues with it donât bug you, and most people when they arent young anymore donât want to do that. Itâs all just cope, and thatâs OK. Are there all time moments in the show? Yes. Is it overall objectively great? No. Do you have to wait and is it a bit of a chore to get to those moments? Absolutely.

It's a fanmade cut of the entire show without any filler or flashbacks and it's a great way to watch the anime without all the pacing issues. The pacing improves somewhat in Shippuden but there's a few episodes that are PAINFUL bc they end up being almost entirely flashback.

In the manga it was between Part I and Part II because the first arc in Part II/Shippuden makes a reference to a certain characterâs father that only makes sense with context from Gaiden. It also affirms many events that were only hinted at in Part 1 (OG Naruto). Thereâs a long explanation but thatâs the core of it

You can watch Naruto and enjoy the show, but the pacing will always be a huge annoyance that you can't fully accept or enjoy. JJK & other modern anime are clearly heavily inspired by Naruto, but they have the advantage of being extremely better at pacing. If I watched JJK first & watched Naruto after w/o ever experiencing 2000's anime beforehand I'd probably be the same as Carter & Cannon. I think Jack grew up watching DBZ (or just old anime in general) just like me, so he's used to pacing like this, therefore he can appreciate shows like OP & Naruto. What I will say is that Shippuden does a better job at introducing even higher stakes to the story, hitting emotional beats, & has a much more mature tone most of the time. There is 3 back to back to back arcs in Shippuden that make the whole of Naruto worth watching no matter how abysmal the pacing can be most of the time. I do remember some of these side character episodes nearly putting me to sleep though lol.

Not everyone reacts the same way even in real life (there's actually taunting involved in real life crimes I believe) 2. He doesn't understand its still a kids show so they can't make it too crazy or too deep all the time hence cut the suspense in case kids are watching so they don't get totally traumatized. It was out of place and cut the momentum. It also takes place way before Shippuden. Think of it as something that exists outside of Shippuden, which is the correct way and why it is between Part 1 and Part 2 in the manga.

Itâs a natural transition and a great hook. It adds mystery and makes a certain few episodes later on far more meaningful. It does not exist in the Shippuden storyline, and having it first is the most logical placement for it

The anime clearly did not know where to put it, and completely ignored the canon order. It doesnât âruin hype,â thatâs thinking about it as if it takes place late into Shippuden. But canonically it takes place BEFORE Shippuden, itâs a separate piece. It perfectly introduces a character right at the start, who besides the 9 tails, was the first character ever introduced. His lore lingers throughout and we already saw what he looks like. They donât show his arsenal besides FTG. Even the classic move isnât shown. Gaiden perfectly teases the character, and itâs a beautiful parallel to the start of OG. In the manga (full disclosure I read manga first but had long forgotten the order), I felt like they didnât show enough. But Gaiden in the show does it perfectly.
