In fairness, the Sword of the Morning was more skilled than Barristan the Bold (iirc). He was the most skilled out of all the kingsguard knights. There's no way Ned could've truly defeated him in the 1v1 with it being believable. Ned was losing to Jaime in season 1 after all. I think he was ashamed of how he won the fight, which is why he never talked about it to his kids.

I really dislike the story arc for Arya in the show. In the books her Braavos storyline is so much better in my opinion. And the show also changed what Ned told Bran about Arthur Dayne. In the books Ned tells Bran that Arthur Dayne would have killed him if it wasn’t for Howland Reed. But we never hear in the books what Howland Reed did to save Ned in that situation. It is one of the things the book fans are waiting to learn more about. 📚

Ser Gerold Hightower was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for the mad king. In the books he dies here with Ser Arthur Dayne. There were 3 Kingsguard there in the books so I am not sure if this is him or not in the tv show. But if it is we finally get to see a Hightower in GOT.

Ser Arthur Daynes sword is called Dawn. It’s the opposite of Velryian steel. It’s not dark it’s milk white and was made from a meteorite in the books.

Arthur Dayne was called “the Sword of the Morning” because of his Valyrian Steel Sword ‘Dawn’. GRRM has said before without Dawn he would’ve been on Barristan Selmy’s level (still goated), but with it nobody was his equal. So he wasn’t a dual-wielder like the show sad, although he did look sick. Also Ned in that scene was played by the same guy who plays Elrond in ROP.

I'm sure most (if not all) of the brothers who voted for Jon to be Lord Commander were not present for the mutiny. Also, the perspective of the mutineers in the show is more based on racism and fear. I think it makes sense for many of the older members to be the ones who betray him as they have had to fight with the wildlings the longest. The issue is that they're still clinging to an age-old conflict and it seems like negotiations or conversation are the last things on the minds of either side. The books give this arc more nuance as Jon still does what he thinks is right by letting the wildlings through, but he attempts to go south to fight the Boltons. In doing so, he is actively weakening them while also involving himself and others in a war for personal reasons. I'm sure many of the brothers have living family members/lovers that they can never see again and now Jon can suddenly break this tradition AND weaken the Night's Watch?

They had two children whom Oberyn refers to in his trial by combat. They were also killed by The Mountain. Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna Stark who was promised to Robert. He launches the rebellion to get her back, and the other kingdoms follow suit…as well as the Mad King’s burning of people using wildfire. Robert killed Rhaegar in battle but was too late in saving Lyanna.

In the books, Arthur Dayne doesn't dual wield he uses a huge greatsword called Dawn which was forged from meteor ore. The choreography is pretty cool but I'm not a big fan of dual-wielding. Kinda feels ripped out of a video game but not in a good way.

The choreography of the fight was better than a lot of what we see in GoT, but the dual-wielding is just goofy.
