Absolutely not..... M is my fav char, I very much prefer the Japanese voice actor. He sounds exactly what I'd expect a character like M to sound like. He's perfect. That English voice.... it isn't that it is bad but idk..... He doesn't sound as menacing to me and I just don't feel that bitter hatred in his voice like I do with the Japanese VA. The Japanese one also nails that bored condescending tone flawlessly lol. He really brought M to life for me.

I prayyy we start with 119/120, or as someone suggested sandwich it between the initial episodes. As people have said it’s like a beautiful hype building “OVA” for Shippuden, and I really encourage you guys to rewatch the middle and end of 120 in case you don’t remember it (Nicholas Light on YT has a great sub reaction to 120). With the full lore it’s just such a great pre-intro to Shippuden, and fits perfectly at the start, not to mention the x100 effect on symbolism and mystery

If the geks end up taking an extra week to do a start of Shippuden Binge and drop those episodes frequently then the geks are doing us the biggest favor & I take back everything I said but if only 4 episodes are dropped next Friday then we did indeed get robbed of 4 episodes this week.

yeah, you’re right about Carter saying 2-3 weeks (without) but it would be most fair if the big break was no longer than the amount of weeks those episodes would have covered just following the normal pace - Geks dropped all 11 at once - 4 would’ve been dropped that week regardless so they gave us an extra 7 episodes which is just about two weeks worth of reactions. So 2 weeks (14 days) without a reaction is completely reasonable including the extra 7 day wait cause Naruto is dropped only once weekly for a total of 21 days between uploads. Yesterday was the 21st day so first batch of shippuden should have dropped. 3 weeks (without) reactions is just taking a week of content that should’ve been dropped had the reactions been uploaded at the regular pace.

While we're waiting for Shippuden I want to add my dime on why the Chunin exam arc is a favourite for many. Including me) Firstly, it is a HUGE step up for og Naruto. The visuals, character introductions, Rock Lee vs Gaara fight, Orochimaru appearance, everything there is a step above everything that was before. It introduces the favorite cast of characters, one of the best villains AND fight all in one arc. It gave personality, backstory, cool abilities to those previously blank characters, we practicallly knew nothing about. It increased the scale by introducing other nations, villages and their unique styles. I could go on and on about this... Secondly, it STINKS of nostalgia. Remember everything I listed before? Now imagine you're kid who found new CDs of naruto and got to witness all of that. Also imagine you're a kid who doesn't particularly care for Naruto as a series but you see this SICK 480hp amv with Gaara vs Rock Lee fight with Linkin park song in a background. All of the visuals (art style, colour palette) are so distinct and character looks iconic that you would find TONS of similar amv flooding anime forums and a baby youtube. You can immediately tell that it's a Chunin exam arc either by Forest of Death or the second fighting room. I don't think that any other Naruto arc is so visually distinct, since it is one of the only arcs that happen in one room. Hell, I didn't watch Naruto fully until I was 15 but even before that I would start seeing glimpses of the show on my since I was 3 (i had those casettes full of fillers for some reason, one of the random things my dad had bought lmao), and for 12 years the most memorable stuff i remembered about Naruto (if we EXCLUDE shippuden moments) was Chunin exam. If somebody asks you about Naruto OG in 10 years, Chunin exam is probably gonna pop up in your head. Thirdly, the concept is just too good. By now a lot of anime fans are used to those tournament arcs and don't think much about it. But back then while Naruto def wasn't the first one to do it, it still was a fresh thing. Being excited to see who will fight whom and who will win is a bit different than a regular plot. The whole tournament thing is a really fun thing, if you think about it. Way better than a regular mission or some training arcs. So all of these elements make Chunin arc the goat arc of Naruto OG to me. It does everything well and represents the beauty of Naruto's shinobi world. P.S. If you read until the end then yeah, I confirm I am jobless. I quit recently so now I waste my time in the comment section of the geks lmao

The fillers actually is canon but it’s stuff you have to want to know (mostly when it came out it was to lose some time and also make money since it was a kid show) but it’s mostly mission that doesnt help the main plot advance but gives side characters more shines. You can also learn about certain missions they referencing in canon episodes. Wouldnt recommend since it’s pretty long but as a kid it was cool to learn more about characters like Shino or Tenten

Since technically those eps(chapters) happened right after the Sasuke Recovery arc in the manga, and I think it'd be a good hype building ep for Shippuden. In terms of the anime Sakura and Chiyo's fight lowkey not really well paced imo... I mean the peak of the fight was amazing, but the amount of cutbacks to certain scenes hurt it. Whereas you can't say the same for Naruto vs Sasuke, because despite the flashbacks for a first watch through they were well timed and well written during those moments. Plus the stakes felt crazy at the time. Sakura and Chiyo's fight in the manga is so much better. In terms of anime-only Part 1 Naruto vs Sasuke probably is low top 5, at the very least(imo). But its incredibly short as a fight compared to the GOATs.

I'm not gonna lie, I've never heard anyone call the Sasuke retrieval arc the best arc in Naruto, let alone all of anime. I'd understand if certain people preferred it to OG, although as a whole I prefer the chunin although there are some slower moments like the sakura fight, it lasts 20 mins and the back story portion is fine. Overall I think the 2 or 3 of the best arcs in Naruto are in Shippuden, and the best moments are mostly in Shippuden. The only thing about part 1 is it's more concise. Most of its issues stem from the anime prolonging moments and fights, whereas Shippuden does more filler. Whatching week by week the filler is annoying, but once it's done airing it allows you to skip as opposed to prolonged moments which you can't do anything about really.

I do understand what you are saying and I agree with you that you wont do just whatever or anything and everything just for your crush. You wont feel that selfless love for someone you just have a crush on. However, you could selflessly love another person that you have come to know and understand on a deeper level. It can be someone you have spent half of your life with and you know you will love them no matter what because you think of them as your family... or it can also be someone you have simply come to know, understand and accept as they are. Like Naruto has accepted Sakura the way she is. Of course it doesnt make him happy she doesnt love him, but it DOES make him happy to be the person that makes her happiness possible. In that way he can show selfless love towards her by giving her what he can in his own way. Love doesnt ask something in return. To truly love is to give. Will it be everything Naruto would want if he could imagine his perfect life with her? Of course not. But will it still make him happier to show this kind of love, than to rather be unhappy and rot from the inside because he is rejected? Think about which way of life would you rather lead and which way of life would you rather the rest of the world would lead. Imagine this example as something everyone would be capable of. It would be world changing. How many tragedies have happened because of rejected love? He is obviously going after Sasuke for his own motivation besides doing it "just" for Sakura, but I dont hold your view that love needs to be a transactional exchange like you have described. Sometimes, simply the act of you doing something that produces a result that makes YOU happy is enough. Another person's happiness can be a great source of fulfillment for many people. Love comes in many forms. Your way to express and experience love isnt the only way everyone does it and experiences it. It doesnt have to be toxic if the person feels truly content. Acceptance of what you are able to be given is something that requires tremendous wisdom and self discipline. Knowing how to be content with what you can be given is the same. That doesnt mean you shouldnt go and look for "REAL" love elsewhere, but it also doesnt mean you cant respond with love wherever you have the opportunity to.

Naruto is my favorite show for emotional reasons haha, because I have been watching this show since childhood and I used to watch the episodes weekly, because I am now 24 years old so I can see that if I was watching this show for the first time now I would not have been able to complete it. this year I rewatched Naruto completely from Naruto Chunin to Naruto Shippuden, Naruto the first part must get a remake with drawing and animation that suits the era and delete many scenes and make three seasons with a total of 60 episodes (24 + 24 + 12 final arc). In my opinion Naruto Shippuden the first and second arcs have a slow pace and you feel that there is no qualitative leap, but it is still better than Naruto Chunin, and it has the negatives of Naruto Chunin but not as bad, then the filler arc, and after that in my opinion the golden period of Naruto begins until the last arc. I rate Naruto Chunin 6/10 and Naruto Shippuden 8.5/10

Quick helpful info: Jutsu just translates to technique. So when they talk abour "shuriken jutsu" it doesn't meant it's got any extra chakra/special effects to it. Taijutsu broadly describes physical fighting techniques, Ninjutsu is primarily chakra infused special techniques, and Genjutsu is illusionary techniques. So if someone just says jutsu it just means some kind of technique, they're being more general rather than specifically what type. All Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu could be called just a jutsu.

Yeah but a summary doesn’t really do the scene justice. The whole point is that Shikamaru, the smartest of the Konoha 11, impresses upon lady Tsunade the importance of medical ninja. When she agrees and explains WHY they’re rare and important, that is truly Sakura’s introduction. The whole point is that they’re not ordinary ninja but require a special skill set and are generally more elite. Skipping that wouldn’t allow the boys to understand the importance of everything coming up

Brig, did you watch the entirety of Naruto with fillers included? I was watching this all as it was airing from the start of episode 1, with every filler included. I wonder how different the experience of the whole journey is when you skip all the fillers. Does it feel like less of a life long journey I wonder. Because for me, thats how it felt - like a life journey. I have watched this with my friends, family, and loved ones over the years. After the P*** incident in the show and the resolution of that whole thing, I felt like something huge and amazing had happened in the whole world. Something so tremendous had happened after so many years of living with those characters, seeing them go through so many hardships, and growing through it all so much. It felt like a lifelong dream had finally been fulfilled and EARNED in everyone's eyes. Not only in the story of the show itself, but in the eyes of the viewers too. I cant remember the time in my life I had cried so much for fictional characters before then in my life. I felt so proud and happy. It also felt like so much pain had been released. This was probably the moment when I realized that Naruto is actually one of the best stories of all time. Not because it has the best writing, or the best script, or the best ideas, or the best anything that you usually expect from something that we tend to expect out of things we like to praise as "best anything" in entertainment. But it has some of the most valuable life lessons, the most valuable experiences you have lived through with those characters, despite them being fictional. It has some of the deepest emotional truths we all need to understand to live a fulfilled life. The show is a treasure trove of valuable positive life examples, good role models, examples of forgiveness, acceptance, overcoming unimaginably intense hardship. And despite all that, still deciding to GET UP AGAIN AND NOT GIVE UP.

I agree that peaks of Naruto are higher than Jjk def. But I gotta say Jjk is far from mid. It doesn’t have any of the problems Naruto has (slow pacing, large plot holes and poorly written female characters/romantic subplots, fillers). It’s very consise in its delivery. I really want episode 1 to be THE introduction to Shippuden (it’s just too hype to not be viewed first) but also I don’t think that watching Kakashi gaiden way later on is a right decision. So just try to kill two birds with one stone. Kakashi gaiden just has to be watched in the beginning not as a FIRST thing ever. And it’s just 2 episodes, let’s treat them like OVAs. Sandwich them between initial episodes of Shippuden ? I feel like if you did so everyone would be left somewhat satisfied.

an above comment mentioned you guys skipped two canon/filler episodes (141-42), most people just recommended skipping over it on previous naruto reactions so here's a summary of both episodes Episode 141: Shikamaru points out to Tsunade that a medical ninja should of been assigned to the Sasuke Recovery team & Sakura wanting to become stronger asks to be Tsunade's Apprentice - only canon part of the episode & happens in the last three minutes. Episode 142: Only first 6-8 minutes have cannon material & it just shows everybody starting to begin training again after recovering from there injuries.

I loved the Chunnin exams arc for a lot of reasons. 1) Forest of death was so hardcore. The survival aspect with scrolls. 2) Introduction of Orochimaru. And also sauske vs orochimaru went crazy. 3) Rock Lee vs Gaara. 4) Neji and the hyuga style combat. Also naruto vs neji had it's moments with philosophies clashing "...because I was called a failure..." When the animation looks different its because a different studio is animating the scene. If im not mistaken the original studio animating this series delegates most of the overall animation of the series to other third party studios while supervising everything. But when animation goes like this in important fights it means that they took the production 100% for themselves and are animating the whole thing themselves and not outsourcing it

Comparing Demon Slayer and JJK to Naruto is a disgrace in itself. JJK and Demon Slayer never even get close to the peaks of Naruto, that's without even taking into account how insanely better Naruto characters and villains are. The only thing that holds back Naruto, is the fact that it came out in a time when anime weren't really seasonal and so it suffers with pacing and filler, because as a straight up story, Naruto is leagues above them.

I agree that One Pace is definitely a better first watch experience. I watched Toei's raw adaptation and they will not make it through some of the arcs after Alabasta. One Piece is my favorite manga and One Pace is honestly a more faithful adaptation of the story than the official anime at times. Reaction and panning shots can be held for more than 10 seconds sometimes not to mention the repeated animation (you know which arc i'm talking about). Naruto vs. Sasuke is my pick for the best fight in Part 1 of Naruto. The fight had a lot of build-up and plays a significant role in the story. The fight was incredibly well-animated and choreographed. The location was amazing, iykyk. I also really liked the color grading, which was very dark and muted. This made the colors of the fire and other jutsu really stand out. And the choice to deafen the sound at the start was a great decision. Some background on the animation style for Jack: This animation style is called sakuga. Although sakuga isn't technically an animation style (its direct translation is simply "animation" or "working animation"), it has come to define episodes or scenes with exceptionally fluid animation. The purpose behind sakuga is to create exceptionally fluid and dynamic animation, with close attention to detail and a creative use of motion and effects. This style is highly regarded due to the painstaking effort, time, and skill required to produce it. This "style" has been around since the late 70s, so Naruto isn't the first to use it. However, Naruto does feature a handful of memorable scenes that employ sakuga. Each scene may be slightly different, incorporating the animator's unique style, but you can easily tell which scenes use this animation style and which do not. Naruto isn't at all my favorite anime, I wouldn't even put it in my top 10, but man it's an anime I'll never forget. I’m glad you’re watching it, and I’m looking forward to the next part.

I was born in the early 2000's and I watched Naruto as it aired on dub through Adult Swim. They released an English Dub in 2000's, I can't remember when exactly. It's possible I watched a rewatch. I was probably 9 or 10 when I watched the Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. The exact age is hazy. I had a neighborhood of great friends, and we all watched the show together at the same time. We would play "ninja" in our backyards, before we knew Naruto was a different show to like. I remember us watching VMA's of Naruto vs.Sasuke on youtube (of course with Linkin Park) before it released in dub. Honestly, we thought it was fake! It just was too great for the time. At my age Naruto was better than any cartoon you could watch. I remember I was at my Grandmas's when 133 came out, maybe it was Christmas, New Years, or we were just there for the winter. I told my parents that they had to leave me alone for the episode, I was so excited. God damn did it live up to expectations.

Naruto is great for its time just as star wars is great for its time. I had a hard time watching og starwars trilogy mainly because i was already spoiled with marvel cgi. In the same way, you guys have watched plenty of high quality shows before deciding to watch one of the big three. The big three were regarded as high quality shows for its time. These were the greatest in terms of action, storytelling, world building etc etc. among all other animes airing along side them or before them. Any nonsense in the show was hardly picked up by a kid who mainly sought after cool fight scenes and sad backstory they could somewhat relate to. Obviously the big three has a big issue with their pacing. You could tell theres an attempt to tell a compelling story with their constant back stories and sad music. The problem is, it gets dragged out too long and repetitive. The pacing is soo bad kids grow along with the show. The kids who had to wait every week for an episode grew up to be adults by the time naruto achieved his dream(ps thats not really a spoiler since its an expected outcome) i think the audience growing up with their show contributed to its greatness but it wasnt possible without the terrible pacing. High quality shows now no longer have that. The pacing of Attack on Titan and Arcane in particular aren't nearly as much of an issue as it is in the big three. Anime back then generaly had terrible pacing but it was the big three that made that long wait worth it.

Would love to see the geks turn lights off, get absolutely toasted, for every ep in shippuden. It’s the fact that people glaze this show so hard when it’s literally not anything special at all, a bunch of the elements were copied straight out of dragonball, all the characters that had potential were written to be insignificant and the story just became about naruto and sasuke🙄 the world building is nothing to write home about😬 there are plenty of better stories out there so if you needs recs i gotchu👌

Before all the many inevitable comments of “just wait it’s coming” and “so close” during Shippuden, Jack Carter and Cannon but especially Carter just be aware that it’s more or less the same as og but with infinitely higher highs. WOWWWWW u guys actually made it <3 Shippuden is gonna go crazyyyyyy. Going into shippuden, you guys have to know that it starts off slowly. Like... SLOWLY. The first few arcs are imo MID AF. They don't really get you hyped, but they definitely build the world in a meaningful way. You guys should definitely skip the whole filler arc early on (you guys can search it up) since it really isnt in the manga and has no significance in the story (to save some time). But all im gonna say is that Shippuden has one of the BEST ARCS in all of anime. In fact, it has three back-to-back-to-back arcs that are crazy good as well. Hope you guys can make it there sooner than later. It'll all be worth it at that point.
