Suga really is the GOAT tho. Rewatching Haikyuu with you guys has only reminded me of how selfless he is. Most people would fight for the right to be a starting player, especially if they're in their last year. But he prioritised what the team needed, and I respect him so much for that! On another note, the Karasuno and Nekoma rivalry is indeed very intriguing. In Haikyuu, there are no "villains" per se. Every team is there because they are just high schooler who happen to love the sport/play casually. Unlike in many sports animes where rival teams are often portrayed as "bad" or people "to hate", Haikyuu does a splendid job with all its teams. You root for Karasuno at first, but as more teams are introduced, sometimes people find it really hard not to root for the rival teams as well. All of the character interactions are top tier, and all the foreshadowing and build up leads to the most emotional and satisfying drops at different points in the series. This is why I love Haikyuu so much. It's literally free therapy at this point (my 50th rewatch HAHAHA)

The subs kinda missed out on the most important part of the strat tho by just saying it was a stack block without defining it. A stack block is where you put all 3 blockers on 1 side of the court before the attack even happens. As Kenma pointed out, Hinata just jumps where there are no blockers, so if they put all their blockers on the left(from Hinata's pov) this means Hinata will always go right. They are basically leaving a gap on purpose to bait Hinata to go there, and Inuoka is fast enough to get to him because he already knows the area where he will most likely jump. It basically removes the surprise factor of Hinata where usually teams won't know where he is going until it is too late to react. This also means the other blockers are in a much better position to block Asahi and Tanaka their left side bitters. Meanwhile Daichi who plays opposite hitter(right side) barely ever spikes and is nowhere near as aggressive as the two outside hitter(Asahi/Tanaka), usually positioning to cover defense instead of running in for an attack. This isn't outright stated at any point in the anime but it's another reason this stack block strat is so good against the current Karasuno. Nekoma identified they can't catch Hinata reactively, they also can't commit too many people too him, and they noticed Karasuno's offense on the right side is lacking compared to their left. It's an extremely good adaptation to not just Hinata but all of Karasuno's hitters. It also gives extra context as to why Kageyama calls for a right side hit, he recognizes what Nekoma is doing, so he is trying to threaten the right side. A right side line shot is exactly how you play against this kind of strat, you have to spread the offense and use the width of the field as much as possible. Tldr, when the writer wants to showcase intelligent players, he actually has very well thought out strats with a lot of layers that make sense with the players on the field.

With this reaction channel in specific due to their different tastes you’ll have reactions in which half of them are first watchers and half not and it really switches around, I’m pretty sure Haikyuu is the first watch through for all of them. I think it makes the dynamics so much better cus you see different perspectives from different people.

The show gets better after establishing most of the characters in 10 episodes, since the stakes are not as high in terms of destruction of the world or humanity or the universe, the peaks will come from winning volleyball games with crazy anime animation and character growth. If they dont drop the show, they will find ways to enjoy the peaks in the 85+ episodes.

(like Kenma said) Karasuno's strategie is to use Hinata as a decoy to distract the rival team's blockers to increase their success rate of other attackers. If the rival teams put more blockers to block Hinata, the fewer blockers other spikers would need to face. Ok, some more goated characters with goated VAs make their appearances. Nekoma's captain is Kuroo and he has the same VA as Gojo. Nekoma's setter is Kenma and he has the same VA as Eren. Also, Nekoma are represented by the cat, because Neko means Cat. The same happens with Karasuna, where Karasu is crow. Most teams is Haikyu! are named after animals. Aoba Johsai has shown so far to be also a good rival. OIKAWA is not a villain lol. He's an antagonist, yes, but not a villain. He's been showing in past episode that he wants to crush his ex- junior but just in the game. Of course when people say that, they have their reasons. In their case, since KAGEYAMA is in his first year currently and just 15 yrs old, OIKAWA being 2 yrs older, it means the reason was in their past, when they were younger kids. I keep mentioning "kids" cause there were one or two reactors ( not GEK of course) just went over the top in hating certain characters which is unfortunate. They thought this show is like most animes where there's proper villains. If you really listen and watch KINDAICHI after KAGEYAMA left him in the boys toilet, you'd see he doesn't have any malice towards KAGEYAMA. Slight contempt maybe with a mixture of hurt and regret. KUNIMI, his buddy also has no malice. He's a pretty chill boy. This show is where I like all the characters and surprisingly remember almost All names in a show and this volleyball show has quite a few teams lol

Oikawa for some reason was always grouped with murderers and war criminals and the funny thing is Shonen Jump did it too. In one of their magazines, Jump GIGA, the theme for the cover was villains and they put Oikawa on the cover along with literal murderers. this episode specifically was the one where i knew haikyuu is different from previous sports animes i’ve watched before. whatever you the watcher is thinking it’s addressed almost immediately. “why is the coach not switching him out” coach immediately elaborates “hinata and kageyama’s fast attacks can’t be that unblockbale just assign a designated blocker on hinata” the other team immediately counterattack. the show doesn’t feign ignorance to these things to add suspense or to create a fake struggle the character have to go though, it knows the real struggles in playing volleyball and spends time showcasing that instead. you can kind of see how they’re focusing on hinata’s usefulness being heavily linked to kageyama which sets the first stone to a future wall that will have to be addressed. god this show continues to be peak with every rewatch!!!

I don't think it's more about the block follows.It's moreso that they are skipping a lot of points to focus on a specific issue. We maybe saw a few more than 5 of Hinata's spikes but almost 2 set passed. That would be at least 50 attacks so it's clear the others are scoring.

Not sure if anyone has explained this but basically how it goes is the interhigh prelims (regional/prefectural) which is for example where Seijouh (blue and white team) were top 4 last year. And then the winner of that from each prefecture would go to nationals. So in their prime Karasuno made it to nationals and lost in the 3rd round whereas Neko went as Tokyo's second team (hosting team gets 2 teams) and lost. in quarters. That's why they haven't played each other, not only is getting to nationals hard enough, but then having to go through the champions of each region is also crazy hard.

The reason KENMA puts INUOKA on HINATA's tail here is cause he's the fastest member in Nekoma team. Only he could have a strong chance in getting there to try block the super quick Hinata. He's still a first year student here so he's going to be quite a volleyball player for Nekoma for the next 2 years. @41:51 TANAKA saying that because although it does show HINATA keeps getting the toss and get blocked but NOYA probably got some Block Follows from that and able to pass to the setter hence TANAKA & ASAHI able to spike. Also, HINATA is still acting as decoy in the game.

FYI, Furudate, the manga artist for Haikyu drew many important scenes & locations in Haikyu based on real ones including the school gym Karasuno trains in and UKAI's shop. There's an actual street where HINATA & KENMA first met. The drawing of the fence, lower wall, a building from one view were made similar. The scene at the steps of KENMA & KURO in the flashback is also based on a real location. Don't look for the photos now because other locations on the websites would be spoilers.

This is the first watch I've ever had negative experience with. Honestly after first 3 drops was ready to jump ship because of it. It's sad, While other reactor said one of the things that added to experience. Was how great a community around the show is. Jack, the whole team rotates so when noya eventually gets to the front he switches out with tsuki or hinata, the middle blockers because as a libero he can only play in the attack line. Then when tsuki/hinata rotates to the back he switches back in because middle blockers are typically the ones that are the worst at defending. He can move in and out of the court and its doesn’t count as a substitution which is why he wears a diff color so the ref knows. The setter moves all over the court in rotation but always moves to their position by the net after the ball is in play. When the wing spiker and middle blocker are not in proper positions due to the rotation, they also switch after the ball is in play. There are also other rotations they do as well as serving positions but it’s gets confusing.

Btw when they say that Kurasuno made it to the third round and Nekoma made it to the quarter finals they're not talking about the national tournement but the prefectural tournement. You need to be the sole winner of the prefectural tournement in order to advance to nationals. Kurasuno has only done this once (when the Little Giant was playing). Also Kurasuno and Nekoma aren't in the same prefecture. Nekoma is in Tokyo while Kurasuno is in a place called Miyagi in Northern Japan.

the community haven't been feral at all. You dont know what feral is if you think the comments on this series are being feral. from what i see its mostly comments of dissatisfaction about one thing or the other from the earlier episodes reactions. which is normal and should be perceived as feedback. I had pretty blunt critiques myself. But its always in the desire to make them like the show or see from a different perspective, which seems to be happening right now since they are enjoying the show more these last few episodes
