I find that Naruto starts strong and reaches peak at around pain arc then it declines. and to me, one piece only gets better. that being said it does have pacing problems at times. but the story is top tier.!

Everybody worried about Jack spoiling the episode while Brig is out here spoiling some of the most recent moments in the series! I love all the Gek boys, but I know for a fact the Naruto glazers aren't joking about nobody dying in One Piece, after we just witnessed Brig crying over Choji and Neji in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. I'm aware that the energy of this comment feels like it's directed toward Brig, but please know that Brig is one of my favorite Gek boys. One Piece is just my number one, and I'm gonna call a spade a spade. Part of One Piece's charm is the rewarding factor you get after hearing about and seeing a character's position again after 100+ episodes. I'm aware that Wano has made the series go viral again, leading to Brig/McKay possibly knowing things about multiple future events, but they should not be talking as much as they are while Jack is getting ganged up on for mentioning small/vague details about the episodes/characters. Just my two cents, and I just want to reiterate that I'm eternally grateful you guys are taking the time to do this series and I've loved you all since your AOT reactions. It's all love from me boys and also, somebody needs to study Brig when it comes to being the Game of Thrones sage. That man is a prediction menace lmfao.<3

When those are all big issues with early Naruto. Its how it is with older anime, especially weekly ones. Not everything can be seasonal anime where they have to cram in as much scenes into an episode as they can. Its clear they are close minded and are just hate watching to give actual credence to "Naruto >>> One Piece". Skypeia is riddled with comedy with many themes, and draws on a lot of real life conflicts - one about two opposing sides fighting over sacred land over hundreds of years, weaponizing religion and putting it above human lives. This is relevant even today sparking protests all over the world. Because characters and scenes are so goofy, sometimes we glaze over the darker elements Oda presents. But I agree with others that some of the most loved arcs of OP are not far off from where you are at.

I always had Naruto as my goat but the journey that is One Piece just gets to you man, it's incomparable, the rich world, the characters, the storytelling, the mysteries, the flashbacks, the lore, it goes insanely hard. After I finished it it took over Naruto for a brief while but Naruto has got that insane nostalgia to me so it's hard to top but they are both goated shows, only love for them. You'll know if One Piece is definitely for you at the end of Arlong Park, the soul of the show flourishes in the climax, cried like a baby the first time. Most of them didn’t really cared about the fights just the story telling and that’s also my favorite in OP. Been watching OP since 2002. Fell in love with the characters and nothing’s topped it till now. Didn’t care about the pacing because I just want more and more episodes.

2024-08-23 03:06:30 +0000 UTCI love both Naruto and One Piece, and honestly I hope you'll get to enjoy One Piece too, but I think your mindset of forcing yourself to trudge along until it "gets good" will be your achilles heel. One Piece is good from the very beginning, but its a different type of good. From the beginning Naruto is good because you fall in love with the characters, the world and well explained power system, and the epic fights. From the beginning One Piece is good because you fall in love with the characters, you're off to discover the mysteries of the world and power system along with the crew, and you realize by the end of each episode that you've had a big, dumb smile plastered on your face for the entirety of it. Seems to me that most of the episodes that you find "boring" are actually viewed as fun and charming by most one piece fans which is why its hard for you to continue. I assure you that everything in one piece is just as impactful as Naruto, even the seemingly insignificant ones, you just don't know it yet. It continues to get better as you keep watching because once you reach those "peak" scenes that you are itching to get to, you realize how Oda strung these "boring" events and side characters together to reach that epic moment. These moments are also when people say "it gets good," because everything comes to a head, and they realize what Oda was trying to do. Thus when another "boring" arc comes along, they are more receptive to it, because they know somehow its building up to something amazing. Early OP is paced very well and only really drags at ep 500-ish, so don't worry too much about pacing at ep 75. One piece also doesn't have a lot of filler in the first place, and you can always check for the filler episodes ahead of time. One Piece is not for everyone and thats ok. If you're determined to continue, I think my best advice to you to enjoy the show is - just sit back and enjoy yourself as an additional member of the straw hats and pretend like you're on this wacky adventure with them. Although you don't like Usopp right now, he does grow on you. If you think about it he is honestly the most relatable character. If a regular person like us were to enter the world of one piece, we would be just as intimidated as he is, but he finds the courage to step up for his friends when it really counts.

Naruto never grabbed me and it took me four seperate tries to read through the entire thing, but I crushed the One Piece manga in a few months. One Piece is definitely more of an acquired taste and feels a lot more 'aimless' sometimes than Naruto does. Enjoy the ride lol it just keeps getting better. (Also most of the consensus fan favorite One Piece arcs are definitely pre-time skip)

It's the post time skip that i got bored and feels dragging, that's the time i look for other anime to watch in between. Also Straw Hat crew >> team 7 lol. But even though Egghead arc is not yet complete, for me i can say Shippuden is better than the posttime skip OP. Overall Naruto still my GOAT. It's just a matter of preference i think. At the end of the day, i still buy merch for both of these shows lol.

I guess reading the manga is one option and the other is waiting for the remake to catch up where you left off, which can take a fuck-ton of years. I don’t wanna be that person and say watch where you left off and continue on til you finish the next arc and then decide whether the series does it for you or not. Also, I’m not kinda guy to say watch One Pace instead. You do you ig I do think Usopp does improve a little bit in the arc you left off at.

But honestly, most of the episodes I’ve seen, aside from maybe 15–20 of them, have just been boring. The only thing I really don’t like so far is Usopp. If One Pace makes the show more enjoyable by cutting out the filler, I’d definitely be more inclined to keep watching. I am also excited that they just recently entered the Grand Line.

Consequentially you just aren’t as interested in one piece and the show bores you. And that’s fine. Nothing that’s ever been made is for everyone. But objectively the first 75 episodes of each show, one piece is definitely better

There’s a difference between slow pacing and bad pacing and the 2 aren’t tied together. OG Naruto objectively has bad pacing, while early one piece has slower pacing. They aren’t quite the same. And even the first 75 eps of one piece aren’t even that slow, just slower than modern anime

It’s like this: I could tell you One Piece gets good at the beginning, but gets better after the Little Garden arc, which you left off at in episode 75. But I can keep going and say that OP gets way much better at episode 151. It’s kinda the same if I ask you when Naruto gets good, is it when Iruka protects Naruto in the beginning or when Naruto turns 9 tails fox against Haku or is it when Rock Lee fights Gaara? Or is it much more way better with episode 133? Its all subjective.

My point is that I am 75 episodes into One Piece, and it has been significantly slower and less entertaining than Naruto was for me. I haven't watched One Piece in a couple of months, but Naruto I was able to comfortably binge because I was addicted to the show. OG Naruto definitely has its fair share of pacing issues, but so many episodes into a series and only having a few good moments, is weak. Sure, One Piece is 1000+ episodes, but 75 episodes of anything is still a lot. I have several friends who have watched One Piece, all of whom have watched it separately and at different times. They all dropped it after 150 episodes out of boredom, except for one who now watches it weekly. I want to continue to episode 200 when the quality slightly improves, or at most to the time skip when it "gets good", but why does a show take so long to "get good". If I continue, which I likely will, I will certainly be following One Pace.

They’re different IPs with different themes and stories that operate with the same Shonen Jump tropes because thats how Shueisha editors want to series to flow for readers, any readers. All the anime adaptations does is just confines the series in 52-week programs cuz they’re contractually obligated. It’s apple and oranges. Episode 75 of Naruto is Sasuke being pissy because he can’t take on Gaara but Naruto can. Episode 75 of One Piece is just jurassic park with two legendary giants getting usurped by a criminal organization. Apples and Oranges.

Still won’t forgive them for butchering Cowboy Bebop & Death Note. They just don’t know how to do it like the Koreans that make really great Kdrama’s that are adapted from Manhwa/novels. It’s a gag and you can choose to not laugh at it but you still continued on with the series. I’m treating OG naruto and shippuden as one series because of the manga, so if Naruto does stop repeating that gag post timeskip, it doesn’t matter: you still continued on with the series. The same could be said for someone else that didn’t enjoy the supposed sexualized gags in One Piece but they can still rank OP higher than Naruto because they had similar engagement like you did with Naruto. If Fire Force, ChainsawMan, or One Piece turn you off from even actually watching it then Shonen anime isn’t for you. I could recommend you to watch/read Golden Kamuy if you’re interested in overly sexualized male anime characters tho. I should be offended by the sexualization of the male characters because they have unrealistic male body proportion but then I realized I dont care and am comfortable in my own body. This wasn’t an attack on you or your opinion , however with anime trying to get more recognized in the western public, i just feel like arguing about this topic is pointless and won’t change the anime industry unless you start changing how women are glamorized or sexualized in western media on our own land before we start demanding other nations to change their media to suit our tastes.

And it does wait for time skip… the characters look completely normal till then, I was thrown off by it too, right when Nami and Robin appeared in the Return to Sabaody arc.

I like One Piece a lot, but I put it on hold at episode 135 and was probably never going to finish it. Watching along with your reactions will make it much more fun to watch through, especially since Jack has already seen it and know when to use One Pace and stuff. I usually never watch reactions of shows I haven't completed (I always like forming my own thoughts and focusing on the show myself first) but I think with One Piece watching even the new material with y'all reacting will make it hella fun.

I only started watching because my cousin was a big OP fan and he convince me to start. I wasn't into it much either but when you get into the further arcs it just gets better and better. As someone who's watched Naruto before getting into this I don't like comparing the two because they're two amazing and different stories being told.

That should probably give you an idea of how long ago it was so everything's really hazy lol. I would say I actually liked the ending to the large scale arc (I hope I remember well enough to be talking about the same part as you), it was the first and only time I actually felt something for the characters. Outside of that one moment I never really felt like I connected with the characters + I do remember being bored with the part after the time skip

I was and still am more into Shojo. Seinen, Shonen with dark fantasy elements & Slice of life anime/manga. I always struggled to get past the first saga in One Piece, it’s just so underwhelming in my opinion, especially compared to the series that I enjoy. Eventually I got through with my brother’s encouragement and I did enjoy an arc here and there but there was a few times where it always seemed like I needed to force myself to get through other arcs. So in the end I dropped it around when episodes 700 ? were airing and just didn’t bother trying to continue beyond that point in the story. I’ve tried a few times to get back into it over the years but just can’t. Which is crazy cause I enjoyed the live action straight away and I’m really looking forward to season 2 but the anime or manga just doesn’t interest me anymore

Here they are just adapting one manga chapter into 20 minutes episode, usually you need 2-3 chapters for 20 minute episode. So the episode actually has around 7-8 minutes of content and other 60% is basically filled with content that doesnt move plot further.

2024-08-22 07:30:59 +0000 UTCnot really, they pacing issues is the anime being weekly and catching up with the weekly manga so they have stretch out the material (pardon the pun) or they’d have to add fillers in the middle of arcs (something one piece rarely does if ever) or they’d end up with original anime material which will botch the show like what happened with OG FMA and bleach. this notion that one piece is being dragged for money and popularity is so dumb when you’re caught up with the anime and manga bcs you can clearly see there has never been an arc where nothing was happening or things were happening that were leading to nothing. we keep moving forward and the end is in sights. toei is just horrible at decisions making they could’ve switched to seasonal or taken longer breaks when arcs end just to give the manga more time to progress

Grew up watching and reading a lot of anime and manga, all the big 3 included, and while I've enjoyed them all, one piece has seemed to hold the most of my attention and affection in the long run 🫶🏻 When asked about my favorites I tend to find it really hard to pick between all the stories I've enjoyed, but One Piece is an easy answer to go along at the top! I love it so much I'm not even exaggerating when I say I've gone on hours long rundowns of the show with people who aren't even watching it, and thankfully they tend to seem intrigued and never so much annoyed lmao 😂 I think it super common to find the length daunting, and all my friends who hadn't seen it before had thought the same, but yet everyyy single one I've convinced to start has enjoyed it, if not loved it! I have faith that this show will climb up your guys rankings with the amount of characters and worldbuilding throughout 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Also I know a lot of people are questioning the decision to not just wait on the remake, but tbh I'm so glad you guys started with the og - this is the version that people grew up watching and enjoying for over 2 decades now, and for good reason! Also personally I love the old style and think there's a certain charm to it, even outside my own nostalgia 💕 p.s. love how Luffys laugh always gets Carter, and extra shoutout to Jack for carrying the One Piece agenda through for us, lmao! After catching up I’ll def say this show it’s moments. I thought it had me hooked for a little while(one arc especially) but then I actually had to force(like fr force) myself to get through a fewww arcs and woulda dropped if not for my friend. Right before timeskip was really good and pulled me back in and but after that I was back mostly on the struggle bus and would have to take breaks from burnout after arcs. For me it didn’t “get better and better”. The fights currently are pretty cool and flashy but for consuming the story the manga is like the only way and I just got so much time invested

Looking through a top 100 anime list for stuff under 20-30 episodes, 2-3 episodes per week, finish like 5 different shows in 1-2 months. Angel Beats done, Cowboy Bebop done, Mushishi done, Violet Evergarden done, Made In Abyss done, Gurren Lagann done, Summertime Render done, Seraph Owari Done, Elfen Lied Done, Ergo Proxy done, Frieren done....you get the idea lol. Dont want to burn them out with just 3 long animes when theres so much more that can be done.

May I suggest, you can try to watch 2-3 arcs for OP (obviously because it has more eps, pretime skip only!) then 1 arc for Shippuden (canon only). Maybe that way you can enjoy both worlds. I do that when I'm watching OP since there are also times it gets dragging, i watch other anime after I end an arc then go back after I finish the other one.
