I really had no idea all that they did to her character on the show until I read the books. and I was like damn… she is the goat and I look at her character so differently. It’s sucks cuz yea it’s not Emilia’s fault at alllll she woulda just ate up the role way more then she already did . I always loved Dany in the show until I could tell writing was doing her dirty(still loved her I was just like tf is going on). And I had no actual idea how bad. Now she’s one of my top in fiction. Literally my queen and like i said in the books a clear “HERO” Also I love the conqueror with teats😂

Book Tyrion, on the otherhand, has done some messed up things and decibel isn't as moral as in the show. And Cersei is even more psycho in the books lol. I do still kind of lean towards Tyrion myself though, since he can still cook up plans and ideas.

I'll always be team Stark until I die but it's hard to hate Jaime after the seeing his character unfold. I really suggest that they read the books bc the books give extra context to his story and some events are carried out different. The show paints his character a bit more black than he is in the books. I really started to like Jaime a lot from the books but was conflicted bc he still pushed Bran out the window.

The whole point of her list was to punish people who had done evil, especially to her family and friends. She wanted to have the skills to get through her list, but once she realized the Faceless Men were just amped up killers for hire, of course she was gonna bounce. Also remember her Dancing teacher's words. "What do we say to the God of Death? Not today." Seems very against what the Faceless Men are about.

I have already explained my thought process in a previous reaction regarding Sansa’s ptsd and said that it is very understandable. I have also said that that does not mean she should withhold info from her brother when there lives depend on it. Having ptsd does not excuse people from critical decisions that don’t just affect you. If Sansa wants to put her life at risk she should do it on her own but by involving Jon and the entire northern operation she is acting bratty and ptsd has nothing to do with that.

Making Alicient and Rhaenyra friends was an interesting change at first but they did nothing with that and season 2 proved that they should've gone with Alicient being the "evil step mother". Also the fact that Alicient's children don't look like teenagers as well bc the actors are a lot older. Jace is being portrayed by a 20 year old so is more believable but Olivia Cooke is almost her children's age and I don't like that at all. I hate what they did with Rhaenys even though when she was the least ruined character. Also, they knew what they were doing when they made Rhaenys "accept" Alyn as Corlys's bastard bc people immediately started hating on Catelyn when is not even remotely the same situation. I could literally go on and on about how much they fucked up.

I still enjoy the show a lot for what it's worth, because I'm invested in the characters and the world and because it's still servicable. It still has fun moments and a couple of incredible episodes to come, but none of that is due to the writing. The writing has fallen so far, it's hard to even recognise as the same show. The show just pales in comparison to what it was in S1-4, which was some of the greatest writing ever put to the screen. This is just a fanfiction with characters we love at this point.

The woke Netflix mob that was in charge constantly didn't care about the source material and grew increasingly frustrated with Cavill's interjection year after year. Cavill's decision to leave the series is out of creative differences with the studio. The fan base is completely on Cavill's side. Personally, I think season 1 was great. I suffered through season 2, but it really wasn't that bad. I still have yet to make it all the way through season 3 and honestly I don't have that much of a desire to do so, but I'll prob get around to it. Idk why they are continuing the show without Cavill. Basically a storyline needs to have the ability to stand on two feet without being easily swayed by outside interference. The issue with the high sparrow storyline is that the entire plot could have been put to bed immediately when margaery was taken prisoner if Tommen used the power he had to just eliminate the high sparrow and his goons. Compared it with Joffrey, if the high sparrow even tried to take claim over anything then Joffrey would have annihilated them in a second. The story has no strength when it can be put to rest with no difficulty and that’s why it’s fundamentally weak. At this point in season 6, it’s both shouldn’t be still going on and just flat out boring. The high sparrow storyline also has absolutely zero bearing on anything in future so it’s easily forgettable.

2024-08-27 05:00:36 +0000 UTCI've mentioned before how the end of the show feels completely different than the beginning of the show, and not in a good way (take AoT for instance) it's just a gradually and exponentially increase in diversion from the books as minor and somewhat inconsequential things were altered in season 1, but then those alterations caused more alterations for season 2 due to characters not even being a thing, people dying (or not dying) at different places, people being in different places with different people, and so on and so forth into season 3, etc... until season 8 just seems like a completely different show with a different soul.

Now, thinking about the ingenuity it took to build a world, fill it with interesting and nuanced characters, and have those characters make decisions based on their goals and past experiences while interacting with each other is what intrigues me. If a writer is able to orchestrate something in the story that is extreme, unexpected/surprising (while making sense canonically/I just didn't think of it before it happened) then I am entertained and further invested in what the story can show and teach me; about writing and narrative direction; about interpersonal human relationships; about diverse experiences and the perspectives derived; about choices people make when in certain situations; about what can drive someone; about the parallels of the fantasy world and our world; about life in general. I don't look to critique and if I am enjoying a show or movie, I usually give the medium the benefit of the doubt when confronted with something that seems off until proven that I shouldn't have. But if the writing falls off a fucking cliff due to running out of source material, it's hard to miss the consistent discrepancies in world building, character choices, plot manipulation, etc. Yes, I'm an ASOIAF whore. But hey, you do you. I'm just a pretentious asshole apparently.

2024-08-26 19:34:08 +0000 UTCEpisode 7: Hound: while I am delighted the hound is back, the writing surrounding his return doesn’t make a lot of sense. Brother Ray said he had a wagon with him travelling on the road when he found the hound. If you remember the scene where the hound fights brienne you will clearly see there is no way that is wagon terrain. It also doesn’t make sense that the guy was able to save the hound who was on the verge of death on that terrain as he could not possibly get his wagon down to him in time and carry him up given the hounds size and armour. Despite these issues I am still delighted the hound is back in the story Margarery: good thing margaery sees how dumb this storyline is by subtlety telling Olenna she is still on her side. Olenna continues to be the GOAT female character on this show, especially that scene with Cersei who by the way is having an extremely boring and uneventful season. Jon: good scene with the wildlings, at this point this is the only storyline I have any interest in. Jaime: good to have bronn back, a character that’s always good to see and hasn’t been ruined by the writing. Solid scenes with the blackfish who is always good to watch in both seasons we’ve seen him. Jon: I’m going to get a lot of hate for this but I don’t care…. Lady Mormont is an annoying character, at first the tough little girl trope is kinda cute however the shtick wears thin very quickly. Davos always cooks in these scenes which is good but I can’t help but wonder why he has no sadness or depression thoughts surrounding stannis. He was in support of stannis for 4 seasons but as soon as we enter season 6, Davos is randomly Jon snows biggest fan and completely forgets about stannis. It just doesn’t feel natural in my eyes. Theon: while I enjoy this scene and basically any scene Theon is in, the whole joining Dany thing now makes sense why in 6x1, the Dany ships were destroyed offscreen. David and Dan were setting up this alliance that Dany would make with the greyjoys and the audience would think that was cool so would ignore the writing flaw of burning danys ships offscreen. I don’t forget however. Also this alliance bugs me in future but I’ll talk about that later. Also cock jokes are back so that’s always great…….. Jon: WHY THE HELL IS SANSA SPEAKING ABOUT ANYTHING BATTLE RELATED WHEN SHE IS DIRECTLY PUTTING EVERYONE IN DANGER BY NOT TELLING ABOUT THE VALE. The audacity of her to be complaining about low men when she had the power all along is just flat out nauseating. NOW THAT SHE HAS CONTACTED LITLEFINGER I WONDER IF SHE IS GOING TO TELL JON ABOUT IT OR IS SHE GOING TO LET JON GO INTO BATTLE WITHOUT THAT KNOWLEDGE… I swear man, this is infuriating. she was once a great character ruined by the writing. Arya: This is the first time in the show where plot armour has an extraordinary effect on the story. It is categorically impossible for Arya to survive a slice to the belly including 2 extra stabs alongside a twisted stab. The fact she is able to push the waif off her and jump into the dirty river which by the way would cause a major infection on her wounds speeding up the death she should receive is just mind boggling. Arya then walks around the city bleeding like crazy and not a single person helps her, what is wrong with the people in this city, but hey I guess she was getting beaten up earlier this season and people ignored that too. ARYA SHOULD BE DEAD RIGHT NOW AND I REFUSE TO HEAR AN ARGUMENT AGAINST IT. Sadly this is the first of many major plot armour instances throughout the remainder of the show. What was once a show with the slogan “nobody is safe” has turned into a goofy story where the most important characters can survive because David and Dan have no idea how to write a story without George’s books to use. Without the Arya scene this episode is probably a 6/10 again but with the Arya scene totally ruining our suspension of disbelief I’m giving this episode a 5/10.

Ep 6: overall an ok episode, nothing too exciting but not a lot of issues either, simply just a middle tier episode. 6/10 Bran: really cool to see Bran seeing those visions. Benjen arriving to save them at the perfect moment feels a bit forced since the children/three eyed raven decided not to tell bran about benjen. I don’t know why they didn’t tell bran that his uncle was still alive? I guess the writers wanted a cool “oh my god” moment but in the end feels a bit forced. Sam: for some reason randyl decided not to kill gilly or little Sam as soon as he found out they were wildlings, just to make his wife happy, if that’s the case why did he send Sam to the wall as that would clearly not make his wife happy. Oh well not a big issue. Dumbest thing Sam ever did is steal his father’s sword, did he not think that after telling his family he’s going to old town, and seeing his sword missing in the morning alongside sam and gilly being gone would make his father obviously choose to hunt Sam to get the sword back??? But let me guess I bet the writers will just let this one slide and randyl will forget all about it because of some unknown reason. So dumb Arya: another play scene feels like a filler scene, I understand why we need the first scene but why the second one? Yes Arya chooses to betray the faceless men when she saves lady crane but this storyline really never made sense to begin with. High sparrow: nothing particularly wrong with this scene, just a continuation of this boring storyline. Dany: another cringe Dany victory scene, I know people hate that I dislike her but I seriously just can’t take her seriously when she tries to be epic when she can’t do anything herself, her strength is always relied upon by her army/dragons. Again nothing majorly wrong with this episode, just a fairly boring one which nothing exciting happens.

Jon leaves the nights watch to go take back Winterfell, Sansa renounces her Bolton name by declaring she's always a Stark, and Arya refuses to become a faceless man and lose her identity as a Stark. Bran is the only one who is slowly becoming less of a Stark and more of the 3 Eyed Raven.

He’s especially good with young girls like Lyanna and Shireen, because he talks to them like adults. Jon and Sansa both tried to appeal to her naïveté, and talked down to her. In House of the Dragon they gave Otto’s brother’s wife the same name, as they like to continue the Westeros naming tradition of repeating the same names within families. Which is honestly a real world tradition as well. But it is of those complaints that George Martin gets because it can become confusing trying to keep all the characters straight.

And the Jamie chapters in that book are his best chapters from the series. The books also have Jamie headed in a very different direction than the television show does. All the same, he does have this epic conversation with the Blackfish at Riverrun in the books.

So highly praised and critically acclaimed, yet so many people haven't seen or even heard of it. It deserves a revival of viewers and I want to see reactions to it soooo badly. It really is that underneath all the pretentious snobbery, all the blood, melodrama and the unconvincing acting. I really tried suffering through that superficial garbage. "Glorious writing"? I feel sorry for the time I have lost throughout the first season. Gave up half way through the second season because I couldnt stand it anymore. The only good actor in that show is Sam Reid and I feel sorry he wasted his talent on all that. When Armand and Louis start finishing each others sentences during the interview in the second season, I literally want to puke because a show that is supposed to give me vampire vibes and that whole dark feel is literally a boyfriends cringe drama without any thrilling feeling or creepy horror. It just feels like cringe cheap romantic chic crap we see everywhere all the time. It breaks immersion completely. Louis' daughter is just boring and bratty and uninteresting. 2024-08-25 21:56:35 +0000 UTCthis episode flew by, the dialogue was cookin, literally. blackfish cooked jaime, lord glover cooked sansa (me and jack both went 😬 at the same time LMAO), the septon was cookin rip, lyanna, davos, jon, the list goes on, a lot of good scenes. i loveeee the cersei and olenna scene, though, not only bc cersei was gettin cooked lol, but also bc lena headey absolutely acted her ass off, which i think is why it becomes easier to feel bad for her like cannon was saying. olenna really sat there and told cersei “you’re a big fat dummy and you’re evil too” and cersei literally just took it. now miss lannister is a lot of things, but she’s never been one to take disrespect quietly, and you can just see how much it’s ripping her apart on lena’s face. like her skin is crawling with the urge to clap back, but she literally can’t cus she knows olenna’s right. imo, because cersei made such a hysterically bad and shortsighted decision that directly backfired on her in such a humiliating and dehumanizing way, her inflated ego and absolute trust in her intelligence (not saying she is but she BELIEVED she was) is not there for her to fall back on, or to hide behind. and i can feel that from her in this scene. first, we see cersei literally agree with olenna when she points out her stupidity, and when cersei recalls the consequences of her actions, she kinda looks terrified, or at the very least, pretty uncomfortable. and it continues when olenna asserts that cersei is alone. that because she is the way she is (an evil pos ngl), everyone has either left her or hates her guts. the way cersei is almost flinching at olenna’s words, as if one by one they’re chipping away at what’s left of her sense of self is just mn mn finger lickin good edit: damn this is a long comment tldr, lena headey is my goat, phenomenal actress, said so much with just her face to me at least

The cloth coifs they're wearing on their heads were definitely a thing, but I feel like many soldiers should have some sort of mail or helmet on top of it. Not many of them seem to wear helmets or even body armor (but lacking body armor is not uncommon in this series). I guess it just makes them stick out lol.

I have seen Dexter, and while it’s not the goat it is a very enjoyable show that will make you want to be a serial killer. Sopranos is top 3 on IMDb and is my personal #3 show oat but I know there’s not a lot of interest here for it. I personally would recommend Barry. It’s hilarious yet gets very serious and deep at times and is also pretty short. I know you would all def enjoy it.
