2024-09-06 11:39:31 +0000 UTCi think the show is focusing on different aspects in a match, for example tsukki constantly using feints just to switch it up later, i’m sure if this was as normal real match you’d see other plays happening in between those points, but the show is trying to highlight that play for even those new to volleyball. noya might not be the focus right now (because the receives are not really a problem to him and he’s picking up the ball like he realistically should) but when and once receives do pose a problem, you’ll get to see more of his plays in detail

2024-09-06 10:57:49 +0000 UTCin japan, high school volleyball has two tournaments in a year, the one we’re doing right now and the spring tournament. when date tech lost their 3rd years mentioned how this loss ends their season (usually due to 3rd years having to drop their club activities and focus on preparing for college and finals) so it’s kind of a common thing for this inter high to mark the end of a lot of 3rd years’ seasons. not to mention, karasuno’s 3rd years also kept stressing on how this will also be their last tournament

He's one of those players whose presence is overlooked until it's gone. "Why doesn't he jump as high as he can always?" One reason is probably so that he can conserve some energy if it isn't needed for a spike haha! Most of the players don't use 100% of their strength right from the start of the game, since there's the uncertainty of having to play a third set if they each win one set and come to a tie. Also! That character who appeared at 14:10 is called Ennoshita! He's a second year like Nishinoya and Tanaka, and we've seen him before haha! He was playing in Karasuno's practice match against Aoba Johsai in episode 6-7, and you'll see him pop up more often as the show goes on! He's typically always being subjected to Tanaka and the first years' bullshit HAHAAH! He's kind of like their babysitter in that respect, and he's a nice guy! Oikawa and Iwaizumi's relationship is one of the fandom's favourites haha! They've been best friends since they were children, which is why you'll see them most out of the Aoba Johsai team. Iwaizumi is literally the best. He keeps Oikawa on track when he panics and was also the one to bring him back from the brink of despair during their junior high days. He's like Oikawa's emotional support. I've always loved their banter HAHA

I was afraid they're going to miss the intention of the flashback of Oikawa and those clear details on why he is like that, also that he's just a kid, and even said sorry after. I was afraid they're going to hate on him because of the flashback. But Geks are 👍👍👍 I thought Oikawa's character was the most interesting one when he came up in the story. Further into the season, which is these eps, I started to really like the character. By the time I'd finished manga, I love the character. Oikawa is my no 1 from my Top 3 characters in Haikyu.

Nishinoya is up there with Kageyama when it comes to talent (it's been emphasized a couple of times in the early episodes). But as coach Ukai said (in episode 10), "it's impossible to recover all those blocked spikes considering how fast they go." So cut him some slack, Jack 😭

He's still a beginner realistically and jump serves are actually really difficult (especially for shorter players), and also WAY riskier. The only team mentioned/shown so far that is not in the same region is Nekoma (red cat team) who play in the Tokyo prefecture. Cannon put it perfectly that Oikawa saw Kageyama as a "threat" in that instance. Most reactors that I have seen till date either simply ignore or refuse to acknowledge the fact that Oikawa was a 14 year old kid when he did that because of their Karasuno bias. And he did apologize immediately after. People also tend to compare Oikawa with Sugawara just to bash him, but the thing they fail to understand is how different Sugawara and Oikawa are when it comes to their respective feelings regarding the sport. Oikawa is the obsessed type like Hinata and Kageyama. Also Suga is 17 years old here so there's also a higher level of maturity at play. I also feel like Sugawara is not the norm. People like him are hardly found irl. But the way Oikawa behaves is what I think I would do if I were in his place. It's not easy to work day and night for something just to see a labelled "genius" overtake you and snatch everything you've given your blood, sweat and tears to in no time. 😑 He's one of the most realistic characters in this show.

It was an amazing journey and maybe some of the most hype I've ever felt watching anime 🥹 I would rank the seasons: S3 > S2 > S4 > S1 Every single season is AT LEAST a 9/10 for me. Haikyu has definitely solidified itself in my top 10! Thanks for the recommendation everyone! (Btw any idea when the movie is gonna release on streaming?)

Kageyama mentioned it earlier, but Iwaizumi is Oikawa's best friend since childhood, hence he's comfortable dishing things back to him, slapping him when necessary and rough housing in general. Iwa is kind of like Oikawa's anchor, in a way, keeping him stable when needed while also caring about him and making sure he's okay without explicitly saying so. Can't wait for the next few episodes lmao they're so so good

I had been seeing some gifs and people talking about the show online when this first season was airing, and thought I'd have no interest in a sports anime. But, people were praising it so much and then this episode came out and I saw the snippet of Oikawa's backstory and decided then and there that I would watch it! Between you guys and the team it's hard to not get pumped up! Yeah, that was a good time to show Oikawa's backstory and why he sees Kageyama as his foil. The main thing Oikawa has on Kageyama is his ability to see his teams strengths and weaknesses. He's very analytical. And of course his jump serve. But Kageyama is learning as well. It was good they put Suga in because it continues to show Kageyama how he can grow. It's not just about having a great set. It's about coming together as a team and truly working with one another. I was glad he and Tsuki started to get through that wall between them. They are both learning to give a little. I'm excited for the next batch!
