There was a pretty good argument for why Mei didn't win. It's a little spoilerish though. If you know what happens with her later on though, that sorta explains it. Bakugo just wanted to throw hands with Todoroki though lmao. The whole reason he slowed down so much is because the two of them started fighting in the middle of the mine field. It wasn't until Deku flew past them that they both stopped fighting and went after him.

I forgot how entertaining the sports festival arc is even in its earlier stages so seeing y'all so invested in Izuku's battle IQ and strategies really reminds me that he's one of the smartest characters in Class A I'm so impatient for the next drop jhbdfjhbwbe I'll probably be watching these few reaction vids again and again until the third one is uploaded. MHA watch order goes (ideally + reasons): Season 2 -> Movie 1: Two Heroes Season 3 -> Season 4 -> Season 5 (Ep 1 to 16) Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission Season 5 (Ep 17 to 25) -> Movie 2: Heroes Rising Season 6 -> Season 7 (Ep 1-4) -> Movie 4: You're Next Season 7 (Ep 5-21) I know this looks super weird, but someone on reddit explained that it's because Studio Bones messed up the order of the arcs in the second half of S5. So canonically, movie 3 actually happens sometime in the middle of S5, while movie 2 actually happens after S5's ending, even though the studio released the two movies in the opposite order. OR, y'all can watch movie 2 after S5 Ep12, and movie 3 after S5 ends (this is what most reactors do if I'm not wrong, cause there are spoilers in movie 2 that aren't revealed until the middle of S5).

to Carter's point at the end i don't think it necessarily is that Todoroki has more screen time because he's a fan favorite. The first season they introduce you to everyone but the focus is on Deku since he has to get into the school, now the show in season 2 is starting to introduce you to more heroes and students to slowly world build. As Deku meets people and his world gets bigger our perspective and the characters we get to know grow as well. this show is great at character development and world building. even with the aspect of introducing the different classes within the school.

Shouto wasnt much of a fan favourite after s1, but he def is now. Although I don’t necessarily think that’s why they’re highlighting him this season, s1 was super short and didn’t have much time to expand upon other characters. It mostly focused on Deku, AM and Bakugo. This season is when it starts to expand upon the other important characters, such as Todoroki. The character that was always a fan favourite and constantly winning the popularity polls, even beating Deku aka the mc, is Bakugo 😭 idk if he’s Hori’s favourite, but I feel like his favoritism as a character does shine through in later parts of the series

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think Mineta is just hilarious, one of my favorite comic relief characters because he is just so unhinged. As far as pervy comic relief goes, I also much prefer it for once not being the old sensei perv trope like Jiraiya and Master Roshi that you have in nearly every shonen anime. A teenage boy being a degenerate perv feels a lot less messed up/creepy than having a grandpa perving on clearly underage girls. And from my own experience in high school, it's a very real thing that some kids that haven't grown up say and do crazy shit like Mineta, so it all just bothers me less and I can actually just see the humor in it.

Fun fact: in Japan, middle/high schools actually do the Calvary Battle irl as apart of their yearly sport festival. You can look it up on YouTube, it’s pretty wild, I wish my school would have allowed such a thing lol. the slow pacing of deku getting a hand on his quirk is very realistic. I'm pretty sure in previous episodes they mentioned that there were people before all might who had all for one. plus all might was going to UA to find a successor who was already a student. deku was never as prepared to take on a quirk like an average quirk carrying person. If someone who never had a quirk randomly knew how to perfectly use a powerful quirk from the moment they received it, compared to someone who had a quirk since they were born---it wouldn't make sense. And all might mentioned that deku needed to be trained in order to have the quirk. In some of the episodes, i think when they were talking about the league of villians, they mentioned that children received lessons on their quirks, which means deku most likely did not receive this. + any training on how to control a quirk based on emotions, physique, etc. This means that all might had the intentions of searching for someone that was far ahead of deku in terms of training, physique, experience, etc. As we can see, UA has such strong students with amazing quirks. I actually love how we see deku slowly learning how to use his quirk, its much more satisfying to see the end results after hard dedication. Also the hype around him and the plot would be pretty bad if he knew how to use it especially because all might is too op and hyped up hahah him struggling balances it out for sure
