Raina glanced down at the capsules in her hand. No liquids on the plane, the TSA agent had insisted. She and Ione had been so excited for their little experiment, and she couldn’t bear to throw the capsules away. Shrugging, she popped them into her mouth one by one, washing them down at a nearby water fountain.
As she swallowed the last capsule of around a hundred, she felt a faint tingle in her stomach but dismissed it. They were boarding soon, and she didn’t have time to think about it. Ione, her spunky blonde friend, had wandered off to the bathroom, probably fixing her hair or touching up her gloss. Raina grinned, thinking about the odd pair they made: she, the tall, lanky brunette, and Ione, her short, curvy, energetic best friend.
They finally boarded, and Raina slid into her seat in the middle of the row, happy to have a little room on either side of her. She dropped her bag at her feet and glanced around, waiting for Ione to take the seat next to her.
A few minutes into the flight, Raina felt a light gurgling in her stomach. At first, it was barely noticeable, but soon, the sensation intensified, spreading warmth across her midsection. She tugged at the hem of her pink T-shirt, which suddenly seemed a bit snug. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, feeling an odd pressure building in her stomach.
Oh no… she thought, realizing that the capsules were kicking in faster than she’d expected. Placing a hand on her belly, she felt it start to expand, the fabric of her shirt stretching tighter over her skin. Her stomach rounded out, swelling gently at first, but steadily. Her jeans began to feel restrictive, the waistband digging into her skin as her belly pushed outward.
Raina glanced around, thankful that no one was watching. She crossed her arms over her growing belly, hoping to hide it, but the pressure continued to build. She could feel her skin stretching taut, her belly pressing against her waistband and the seatbelt. With each passing moment, it seemed to grow fuller, rounder, inching closer to the seat in front of her.
The pink fabric of her shirt started to creep up, unable to contain the expanding curve beneath it. She tugged at it, but there wasn’t enough give. Her skin was exposed now, smooth and tight, her belly rising like a balloon in her lap. She could feel every inch of it stretching, rounding out further and further, until it was only a few inches from the seat ahead.
Her face flushed as she felt her belly continue to grow, pressing firmly against the seatbelt. It felt incredibly tight, almost like it was filled to the brim. She took shallow breaths, each one making it swell just a little more, until she feared she might actually pop. Tentatively, she tapped her fingers against the surface and heard a low, drum-like sound. The sensation was surreal, the fullness almost overwhelming.
Just then, Ione appeared in the aisle, her eyes widening as she took in the sight. She hurried over, her face a mixture of shock and amusement. “Raina! Why didn’t you tell me you needed help?” she asked, her tone teasing but with a hint of genuine concern.
Raina turned away, embarrassed. “I…didn’t realize it’d work so quickly,” she whispered, her voice barely audible as she looked down at the swollen curve of her belly.
Ione stepped in front of her, reaching out to give Raina’s belly a gentle poke. “This is what you get for not waiting for me,” she said with a grin. She leaned in, standing close enough that her chest sat on the top of Raina’s rounded stomach. Standing in front of Raina, she was just about eye-level with her seated friend.
“You could’ve shared, you know. We’re supposed to do this together!” she said, giving Raina’s belly a gentle pat, the sound resonating like a soft drum.
Raina gave a sheepish smile, her cheeks warm with embarrassment. “I didn’t want to waste them,” she murmured.
“Well, I’m not letting you off the hook that easy,” Ione replied, settling into the seat next to Raina and resting a hand on her belly. “We’ve got a long flight, and I’m staying right here. We’re in this together, after all.”
The two exchanged a laugh, Raina relaxing a bit with her friend by her side.
