August update

The new SDL2 Joy2key was moved into its own core module. This should be automatically installed when updating to v4.7.18 or later.

An issue was fixed with RetroPie-Setup's use of apt-get not installing dependencies due to Raspberry Pi OS Buster moving to oldstable release tag in packaging. This was fixed by Mitu by adding an additional parameter (--allow-releaseinfo-change).

Added recognition of Elementary OS Odin (due to it identifying as "Elementary" rather than "elementary" as with previous releases). This OS is not tested or supported but was reported by a user and it's Ubuntu based so should work on x86 systems. For the Raspberry Pi we still only support Raspberry Pi OS though.

Use fastsid on lr-vice by default on arm targets (and sample rate lowered on armv6) for performance. Also a regression was fixed where installing lr-vice wouldn't add the necessary c64 system on install.

Dankcushions added support for controller input labels in RetroArch's GUI. A known joypad would need to be reconfigured in Emulationstation after updating but this makes the inputs easier to manage within retroarch. See https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/3362 for more info.

Uqm (The Ur-Quan Masters) was updated to use the latest upstream stable release (0.8.0) which also uses SDL2 rather than SDL1 and fixes some issues with automatic updating due to the way the old module worked (installed from debs, but due to missing package on Raspberry PI OS would build one package from source, which didn't work with our package versioning).

Added two additional sections to RetroPie-Setup "Manage Packages". You can now manage all installed packages and also see all packages in a single menu also.

There are other ongoing changes but will report on them when they are finished and merged.

We also got sponsored by Vilros. See https://retropie.org.uk/2021/09/vilros-sponsorship/

Thanks to you all for your continued support.

Cheers.

Jools
