Kamar Taj [2008]
–Jamie Bell–
It has been over a week since his life took a drastic turn and brought him here, to Kamar Taj, an ancient Monastery housing humans who can do honest to god magic, to learn. What? He did not know yet but he was here to learn, to prepare to do something about his life.
“Ahhh,” He groaned as his neck was too stiff this early in the morning. He did not have time to pack any of his belongings and the mattress, if it could even be called that, was not the most forgiving on the body. Combined with his age, he was not quite as spry as he would have been in his 20s, despite his regular exercise.
After stretching for a bit, he woke up from the bed, which was just a bunch of leaves on a futon no matter how one looked at it, and then began doing his everyday morning routine of stretching out every part of his body, sans the neck today since that had been acting up lately. Maybe the Ancient One could use some spell on him to negate the pain?
These people took blows that would cripple ordinary people, on a daily, hell, even in friendly spars so there must be something that either toughens these people up or helps with the pain and the injuries. He would love to take at least that spell from his stay here.
Brushing his teeth, he took a moment to marvel at the special toothpaste and brush situation that Kamar Taj had going on here. The toothpaste was unmarked but was absolutely perfect in terms of consistency, foam and most importantly, the freshening after effect it left. The brush cleaned everything and refused to feel rough no matter how hard he tried.
He never expected Kamar Taj to use actual relics, of sorts, for day to day use. It made sense though, because Magic can also be used to ease one’s life. He had this perception in his mind that magic was just a weapon, a tool in an arsenal to fight against threats.
Well, as it turned out, it can also be used to create amazing and useful tools for day to day use that would never see combat.
Placing them back in the container, which, get his, cleaned them for him, he wiped his face and after putting on his shoes, opened the door of his dwelling and took a deep breath of the cold crisp air of Kamar Taj.
It was 3 in the morning here, and he was feeling like going on a run. Now, he was told yesterday by one of the initiates that there is a breathtaking jogging track in Kamar Taj, one just had to have the will to find it.
Cryptic? Yes. But he would take it because he has been feeling quite restless not having followed his daily routine that he hadn’t missed for a literal decade at this point. Seeing that just a toothbrush could be magical in Kamar Taj, he was looking forward to the jogging/running track in Kamar Taj that could be described as breathtaking.
The door closed on its own as he stepped down and took off running, with CHI being pumped in his body at rhythmic intervals. Over the years, he found out that constant use of CHI was just unsustainable because it would never get him the runner’s high that he was chasing.
Instead, he figured out that releasing CHI in his body at intervals was what kept him running the longest and got him the refresh feeling he was looking for. Plus, it staved off most cramps though he did take care to hydrate himself as much as he could.
Remembering the instructions, he arrived at the edge of Kamar Taj, as much as a pocket dimension could have an edge, and stared at the entrance. The iconic door that Strange would knock on for hours on end in the future, the same one where the story of the future Sorcerer Supreme would begin. He tore his gaze away from the strangely hypnotic door and turned to the right, hoping that this was not a prank and the instructions were–
He missed a step and had to right himself as he found a door suddenly appearing right in front of him, in a space that was empty a scant few seconds ago. Shrugging and accepting the magic that is Kamar Taj, he opened the door and stepped right in.
He blinked at the forest he had somehow found himself in. Birds chirped by, a few of them glowing for some reason, there was a periodic tremor in the ground for some reason, a rough path surrounded by thick bushes that periodically gave off starry blue lights that floated up in the air until they disappeared from his vision.
“What is this place?” He whispered as he cautiously began running, his anxiety heightening a bit as he turned around and saw that the door had disappeared but trusting the process, he tried to calm himself and continued running.
The air in this place was a little different from Kamar Taj, it was not humid, as he had expected it to be because of the whole rainforest vibes but it was not as dry and cold as Kamar Taj was. It was…nice. Perfect even for running.
Humming a nice tune to himself since he was a dumbass and left all his belongings back home, including his car, since he wanted a real fresh start, he continued running, surprisingly not running into any animals except the occasional sighting of completely unknown glowing birds.
As he ran over a road that he thought would be difficult and punishing because of uneven terrain but was totally fine and even tone throughout, he realised that one of these days, he might just have to go home and make sure that everyone knows he was not missing. He might be a loner but he was a landlord and if not out of sentiment, then the tenants would make damn sure that they would not lose a place that gave them a fuss free renting experience with no abrupt jumps in rent and no nonsense rules.
Plus, his car. His beat up Honda Civic, something that refused to die on him. He might have to deal with that as well, provided that it was not already stolen from that place.
Sighing, he pushed those thoughts out of his mind and continued to run, taking in the breathtaking sights along with near perfect weather, not realising, for even a moment, that he was being watched.

Outside the Forest of Perseverance
“Do you think he will pass?” Master Wong asked the Ancient One, who was keeping a close eye on Jamie Bell, a fan folding and unfolding in her hands continuously, a sign of anxiety.
“We will see, Master Wong. Only Time will tell.”
