[Background Blog] Astatos - Hero Pack III Preview

Hi Patrons, Compymono here! Today we wanted to share some details about the upcoming Hero Pack III content for Astatos, which is now in the final stages of testing.

As some may know from the release of the tabletop version of Astatos, Hero Pack III is our collaboration with Echo Project’s Adastra!

This pack is going to add 6 new Hero Cards into the game along with matching profile pictures. This content will be made available in a free update for all players on Steam (just be sure to bind your Steam account before redeeming the cards!)

Artwork Updates

Due to the difference in card presentation between the original Astatos tabletop game and the video game, we worked with HAPS to extend several of the card illustrations for Hero Pack III.

Gameplay Updates

Several of the Hero Cards in Hero Pack III Have had changes made to their abilities to improve balance and take advantage of new gameplay mechanics. With this in mind, here is a rundown of each card and their upcoming Hero Abilities. While they may change again before release, we’re pretty happy with how they’re working out in testing.

Amicus Conquest

• During the Card Draw, pick one player on Makari-Hari’s/Mukaki’s side to draw two Cards instead of one. (Passive)

Amicus Takeover (+1 Takeover Summon Cost)

• During the Card Draw, Makari-Hari’s/Mukaki’s side draws an additional Card if they have no Energy. (Passive)

Cassius (+1 Takeover Summon Cost)

• Your side discards all Cards from their hands. Then copies all Cards held by Makari-Hari/Mukaki’s side. Distribute as desired.

Alexios

• Prevent any Hero on Makari-Hari’s/Mukaki’s side from entering Cooldown for the current turn. (Excluding Makari-Hari & Mukaki) This Hero will activate first.

Cato

• Hide the Energy for all Heroes on Makari-Hari’s/Mukaki’s side from the opposing side. (Passive)

Neferu

• When turning a Hero within a single turn, that Hero keeps all of the Energy they had at the start of the turn. (Passive)

The Monitor

• Copies Mukaki/Makari-Hari's Passive Ability. (Passive)

While that’s all we have to share for today, we hope players look forward to the addition of these cards in the game!
