2020-09-08 20:19:20 +0000 UTCGreat reaction man, subscribed to your patreon just for Attack on titan Reaction :) and by the way, Jean didn't die, it was the commander that Pixis sent, Ian Dietrich (basically he sent 3 people including him but he died with Matabi Jarnach, the only survivor is the girl, Rico Berzenska ). And you said they should've sent Levi with the elite squad, so let me explain something CRUCIAL : There are 3 corps in the military and they have different responsabilities and commanders : 1) Garisson corps is the one responsible for the safety of the walls, like Hannes (episode 1 who saved Eren and Mikasa) or Dott Pixis who is the general commander of the whole South Region for the garisson; other noticeable members are the 3 elite members I just talked about who died. 2) there's the military police, it's a prestegious branch because they basically do nothing and there's no risk taking a position with them, they just handle human vs human problems like murders and protect the king and the government. Ironically, the elite students go the military police (because it's safe for them). 3) Survey Corps, the commander is Erwin Smith and Levi is just a Squad Captain (there's people who are higher in rank than Levi in the Survey Corps). The survey corps only mission is to go OUTSIDE the walls and try to establish human bases & try to figure out how the titans function. They are the strongest (by experience and the fact that they fight titans all day long, not like the two other branchs ) so there you have it. It's normal Levi wasn't there, the survey corps just came back from a mission and they found Trost invaded.
