Billing Poll
Added 2022-10-02 09:29:17 +0000 UTCThank you all for re-upping, and welcome new patrons!
Unfortunately, this is not a bonus Sunday chappy, but rather a market research poll. Patreon has recently added a new option for billing, which they call Subscription Billing instead of Monthly Billing.
Essentially, it means patrons will have individual subscription periods. Eg. if you subscribe on the 16th, you will always be billed on the 16th every month, instead of on the 1st.
This change is most notable for new/returning patrons, where you can avoid a double charge which happens if you subscribe late in the month. In exchange, the subscription periods can get a bit unclear, increasing the risk of forgetting to pause/cancel.
I still haven't decided how to go on this one since swapping over would be permanent and affect everyone. So I thought I'd get your feedback since it'd probably affect you guys more than me. To be clear, this isn't some majority decision; it's just me collecting data.
So which would you prefer, Monthly Billing like today, or the new Subscription Billing?

2022-10-03 18:31:16 +0000 UTCDoesn't seem like it should matter too much. On the one hand, if you start on the 29th, not knowing you will be billed again on the 1st, then you are out 10 bucks. On the other hand, knowing that your subscription will be renewed on the 1st makes it easy to cancel. As long as a change to subscription doesn't make it so current subscribers get charged on the 1st and again on the subscription date for the month of the change, I don't think it matters.
2022-10-03 18:22:09 +0000 UTCWhile that maybe is true, it also incentives people who just want to do a one and done.

2022-10-03 18:21:39 +0000 UTCThe way patreon hides content you paid for if you cancel before the end of the month is disgusting. If the alternative avoids that horrid garbage, please swap it.

2022-10-03 18:18:19 +0000 UTCWhile I don't care (and thus voted as such), I think that going to the new System will be better for the new subscribers. As of now, new subscribers who sign up at the end of the month could technically be charged twice within the same week - which might deter subscribers from subscribing asap.

2022-10-03 18:16:49 +0000 UTCI would use the new system. I know to wait until the start of the month. But those with, how you say, weaker minds don't know to wait.

2022-10-03 17:38:31 +0000 UTCBasically when does the time start. Current setup bills on the first of the month. So if you sign up on the 30th then you get charged again in 1 or 2 days. With subscription you get the full month.

2022-10-03 17:37:31 +0000 UTCWhat is the difference between monthly and subscription?

2022-10-03 17:27:05 +0000 UTCMehhh; i dont really care which it is. If the subscription was like 2 to 3 times more expensive then itd matter more to me, but 10 less bucks dont hurt like that would

2022-10-03 16:34:31 +0000 UTCI tend to drop and re-add patreon subscriptions relatively frequently, and I hate having to always work around the silly 1st of the month renewal thing. I have several times avoided subscribing because the months end was nearing and then forgot until the end of the NEXT month.

2022-10-02 22:16:13 +0000 UTCI think you’ve got your Patreons mixed up. Unless you subscribe to the theory that the First Defier and Shirtaloon are secretly the same person.
