I treated the vibe here as more of a -first contact-, being approached by who would become her first priest, and trying a form of communication he would react better to in hopes that it will work this time. Seeing as she would at least know of him and his people for that initial summoning

I thought it was her first priestess, but this might suggest an earlier and more tragic origin. And yes, I'd let her go. In spite of all the trouble she'll end up causing. Because she hasn't done any of it yet. Though I would try to make sure she wasn't starving first. I'm not stupid...
