Git Gud Or Die Trying #36

As Adrian rode into the Mistwood, the atmosphere grew dense and eerie. The air felt heavy with moisture, and a faint mist clung to the forest floor, partially obscuring the path ahead. The tall trees loomed overhead, their branches intertwining to form a dense canopy that filtered the sunlight, casting a dim, ethereal glow.

Navigating through the labyrinthine forest, Adrian relied on his instincts and memory to guide him. He knew he needed to pick up specific items in this area, but he also had to remain cautious of the dangers that lurked within the Mistwood. The forest was known to house formidable creatures and mystical beings, testing the mettle of any traveler brave enough to venture through its depths.

As he reached the beaten path, Adrian paused to take in his surroundings. The path stretched out before him, winding its way through the towering trees. It seemed worn and well-traveled, suggesting that others had ventured this way before. Adrian's gaze swept the area, searching for familiar landmarks to confirm his location.

To the southwest, his eyes fell upon a spectral chandelier, its ethereal glow illuminating the dark forest. It stood rooted in the ground, casting an otherworldly light upon the path. Adrian recognized it as a marker, indicating the direction he needed to go.

"That should be the way," Adrian muttered to himself, acknowledging the significance of the spectral chandelier. With a nod, he urged Torrent forward, riding past the strange object and continuing toward the distant obelisk that stood as another landmark in the mist-shrouded forest.

Reaching the obelisk, Adrian dismounted and approached it. With a careful hand, he retrieved a fragment of a map from a hidden compartment within the obelisk. The map depicted the eastern region of Limgrave, showing a detailed outline of the area's geography.

Quickly stowing the map fragment into his inventory, Adrian turned his attention to the west. In the distance, he caught sight of a massive bear, its size and aggressive behavior evident as it scratched its claws against a nearby tree.

"There you are, you big bastard..." Adrian muttered as he looked at the gigantic bear, its massive form casting a shadow over the fallen adventurer's corpse. The lifeless figure lay slumped against the tree, its hand tightly clutching a stack of tattered brown parchments. Adrian's eyes focused on the worn pages, recognizing them as yet another valuable cookbook.

The cookbook, despite its worn appearance, held within its pages the invaluable instructions for creating Fettid Pots. These pots, concoctions of potent toxins and noxious substances, had the ability to poison adversaries and weaken their defenses. They were a tool of subterfuge and strategy, providing Adrian with an edge in battles against formidable foes.

As for the bear before him, it was no ordinary creature. It was a Runebear, known for its ferocity and formidable strength. The Runebear's towering presence and menacing aura made it one of the most challenging adversaries in the game that weren't Great Bosses.

While Fettid Pots may not have been considered a game-changing item, Adrian knew that in the midst of his perilous journey, every advantage counted. The ability to poison his enemies and chip away at their defenses could turn the tides in his favor, creating opportunities for victory where there seemed to be none.

"Eh, fuck it. I'm already here..." With those words, Adrian urged Torrent forward, riding toward the looming figure of the Runebear.

His muscles tensed, his grip on the reins steady. As he closed in on the beast, he saw the cookbook resting in the hands of the emaciated corpse, its pages fluttering in the wind.

Time seemed to slow as Adrian extended his arm, his fingers reaching out to snatch the cookbook from its precarious position. The Runebear roared in protest, its massive paws swiping through the air in a futile attempt to deter him.

But Adrian was swift and agile. With a deft movement, he dismissed Torrent, tumbling to the ground beneath the looming figure of the Runebear. In a blur of action, he snatched the cookbook from its resting place and leaped into the air, his body propelled by sheer determination.

In a moment of perfect synchronization, Adrian whistled Torrent back into the material world, his loyal steed responding instantly to his command. With a thunderous gallop, the spirited horse appeared, its hooves pounding against the earth.

Adrian soared through the air, the wind rushing past him as he grasped the reins, swiftly mounting Torrent's back. The duo wasted no time, swiftly riding away from the Runebear's territory, leaving behind the powerful creature and its bewildered roars.

Once he created some distance between him and the Rune Bear, Adrian's sense of pettiness kicked in. He couldn't resist the opportunity to taunt the ferocious creature. With a mischievous grin spreading across his face, he turned around in the saddle, raising both middle fingers high in the air.

"Suck my human balls, you dumb animal!" he shouted with a mix of defiance and amusement. A surge of adrenaline coursed through his veins as he let out a hearty laugh, reveling in his victorious escape.

But his moment of triumph was short-lived. As he turned his attention back to the road ahead, his expression quickly shifted to one of surprise and shock. A low-hanging branch was approaching at an alarming speed, threatening to collide with his face.

"Fucking hell!" Adrian exclaimed, instinctively ducking just in time to avoid the branch by a hair's breadth. The rush of air brushed against his cheek as the branch sailed past, narrowly missing its target.

"God... that was fucking embarassing... good thing no one was there to see it..." Adrian muttered, resisting the persistnat the urge to turn around and continue taunting the Rune Bear.

He knew better than to push his luck any further. With a newfound sense of caution, he focused his attention back on the road ahead.

After what felt like three hours of riding west into the depths of the Mistwood forest, Adrian finally arrived at his destination—the Mistwood ruins. These ancient remnants of a forgotten civilization stood before him, their true purpose lost to the annals of time. The ruins consisted of weathered stone walls, worn and tattered, some partially collapsed and others crumbling with age. Nature had begun to reclaim the area, with vines and foliage weaving their way through the cracks in the stones.

Along his journey through the Mistwood forest, Adrian had been diligent in his exploration and resource gathering. He had collected various herbs and ingredients that thrived only in this mystical woodland, their vibrant colors and fragrant scents adding to his inventory.

In addition to the botanical treasures, Adrian had stumbled upon several Gold Runes, shimmering with a lustrous hue that hinted at their value. These ancient artifacts were known to enhance magical abilities and provided a means for unlocking hidden secrets within the game world.

In search of sustenance, he had also hunted a boar, its lifeless forms now resting within his inventory. The boar's meat would provide nourishment during his travels, ensuring he remained well-fed and ready for the challenges that lay ahead.

Not all encounters had been peaceful, however. Adrian had crossed paths with peculiar bat-like creatures, their wingspan rivaling that of a large dog. Despite their intimidating appearance, Adrian dispatched them with ease, his combat skills honed through countless battles.

And speacking of canines, as  a haunting howl of a wolf echoed through the Mistwood ruins, Adrian's attention was drawn to a tall, crumbling tower standing at the edge of the decaying structure.

His gaze fixated on a figure that stood at the tower's entrance—a humanoid form with the majestic head of a black wolf. The creature, known as Blaidd, was adorned in armor embellished with black fur and marred by tafts of white.

Adrian recognized Blaidd and knew he was the key to acquiring an excellent weapon early on. However, their paths were not destined to cross on this particular occasion. The humanoid wolf would have to wait as Adrian had another purpose in mind.

With the knowledge of another Runebear lurking within the ruins, Adrian decided to employ his stealthy skills to avoid any unnecessary confrontations. He reached into his repertoire of spells and invoked the power of the Assassin's Approach incantation.

As the incantation took hold, a cloak of shadows enveloped Adrian, rendering him mute and one with the shadows. His footsteps became light and silent, allowing him to move with utmost stealth through the crumbling corridors of the ruins.
