Git Gud Or Die Trying #40
Added 2023-07-14 00:44:43 +0000 UTCSitting on the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace, Adrian focused his attention focused on the map spread out before him. His gaze fixated on the intricate pathways and landmarks that held the key to his objectives.
With a sense of purpose, his fingers traced the route that led to the Bridge of Sacrifice, a critical passage between Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula.
"There should be another regular smithing stone and a Stonesword Key on the bridge," Adrian muttered, trying to trace the location, only to pause as he realized he didn't have a map of the Weeping Peninsula.
"Oh well... I already know the area. And I don't need to get too deep into the Weeping Peninsula anyway..." He shrugged, promptly stowing away the map into his inventory.
A brief pause followed as Adrian considered the potential challenges ahead. The soldiers stationed on the bridge and the imposing ballista demanded caution and strategic thinking. He needed to navigate the situation with precision to ensure a successful acquisition.
"Irina should be at the start of the ravine ahead of the bridge," Adrian affirmed, remembering the literal damsel in distress from the game. Along the way, he could pick up a few items, including the coveted Morningstar mace, two smithing stones, and the Mighty Shot Ashes of War.
As he considered his next steps, Adrian's mind shifted to the presence of a merchant near the ramparts of Castle Morne. From him, Adrian could buy several items: a Stonesword Key, a crossbow, bolts, and even a cracked pot. These were essential tools for his journey, and he couldn't pass up the opportunity to bolster his arsenal.
"Once I have everything I need from the merchant," Adrian mused, "I could try to ride beyond the ramparts and get the Weeping Peninsula's map fragment from the obelisk..." He added, his expression promptly souring as he remembered the threat near the fort.
"I'll need to be mindful of the giant Golem Archer, though..." He muttered with a sigh. "If that thing's arrow hit me, I'll be dead meat... again, fuck you, Miyazaki..."
He stood up, shaking his head. "Ah, whatever... it's do or die..."
...
Standing at the beginning of the ravine, Adrian couldn't help but frown as he scanned the area for any sign of Irina and found no trace of the girl. "Hello? Is anybody here?" Adrian's voice echoed through the ravine, but there was no response, only the eerie silence that seemed to envelop the area.
Frowning slightly, Adrian made a mental note to return later to search for Irina. Perhaps she had already moved on or was occupied elsewhere. He needed to focus on the task and continue his journey through the ravine for now.
As he ventured deeper into the dark and winding path, the dense vegetation seemed to surround him, creating an eerie atmosphere. Shadows danced and whispered among the gnarled trees, and the sound of his horse's hooves echoed softly against the rocky walls.
The anticipation grew with every step, and Adrian remained alert, his senses heightened. He was wary of any potential threats or surprises that might lie in wait within the depths of the ravine. It was a treacherous place, known to harbor many dangers.
The silence was occasionally broken by the rustling of leaves or the distant call of a wild creature. Adrian's gaze shifted from side to side, scanning the surroundings for any signs of movement or danger.
As he neared the end of the ravine, Adrian came upon a sight that halted him in his tracks. A broken armored carriage lay in ruins on the side of the road, its once-sturdy frame now twisted and battered. The wooden carts that had accompanied it were scattered haphazardly, their contents strewn across the ground. The air was thick with the scent of blood and destruction.
As he approached the scene, Adrian could see the lifeless bodies of soldiers strewn about, their armor now stained with dirt and crimson. A group of demi-humans, their gray skin marred with scars and grime, moved among the carnage, their beady eyes gleaming with a mix of greed and hateful resentment.
Each demi-human clutched a weapon in their gnarled hands, weapons that showed the wear of countless battles and the passage of time. Some wielded spiked clubs, their crude surfaces adorned with splatters of blood. Others brandished rusted swords, their edges jagged and dull. They wore tattered rags that barely provided any semblance of protection.
The scene before him told a grim tale of an ambush, a brutal attack that had caught the soldiers off guard. It wasn't clear whether the demi-humans ambushed the caravan or merely appeared after the battle to scavenge the battlefield, but it didn't really matter.
Adrian's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation, determining that a confrontation would be inevitable. He had no quarrel with the demi-humans and didn't care whether they attacked or merely looted the caravan after someone else did the dirty work.
Ultimately, it was a dog-eat-dog world, and in a place where only the fit and strong survived, it would be foolish to hold on to naive ideals, especially when one's life depended on it.
Without hesitation, Adrian charged creatures, his greatsword gleaming in the dim light of the ravine. The demi-humans, startled by his sudden appearance, turned their attention toward him, their beady eyes widening in surprise.
With a battle cry on his lips, Adrian charged forward, the greatsword held in his hand high. The sheer force of his roar sent a shockwave through the air, momentarily paralyzing the demi-humans with fear. Before they could react, Adrian swung his greatsword in a wide arc, its blade slicing through the air with a resounding whoosh.
The first demo human to meet Adrian's blade let out a gurgled cry as its body was cleaved in two, blood spraying across the ravine. The others scrambled to defend themselves, but Adrian moved with unparalleled agility, his strikes precise and devastating.
His greatsword danced through the air, each swing finding its mark with deadly accuracy. One by one, the demi-humans fell under his relentless assault, their crude weapons no match for Adrian's skill and strength. The ravine echoed with the clash of steel and the cries of the defeated.
As the last looter crumpled to the ground, Adrian stood amidst the fallen bodies, his chest heaving with exertion. The air was heavy with the scent of blood and the echoes of battle. Silence enveloped the ravine once more, broken only by the sound of Adrian's ragged breaths.
With a mixture of satisfaction and weariness, Adrian wiped the sweat from his brow, surveying the aftermath of the encounter. The demi-humans lay motionless on the grass, dead or in the process of dying.
Taking a moment to catch his breath, Adrian retrieved a cloth from his pack and wiped the blood from his greatsword, his movements deliberate and focused.
With the demi-humans lying lifeless on the ground, Adrian moved to claim his prize. The armored carriage remained broken and abandoned, its contents scattered about, a testament to the violent encounter that had taken place. Adrian approached the carriage and retrieved the Morningstar mace, its weight, and sturdy craftsmanship filling his hand with a reassuring grip.
Feeling a sense of satisfaction from acquiring a new weapon, Adrian stowed it away and moved to loot the remains of the caravan, claiming two smithing stones and several golden runes before continuing his journey south.
Pressing on, Adrian didn't forget about the Mighty Shot ashes of war and expertly retrieved from the bug rolling it around, despite the little creature's attempt to escape.
After an hour of riding, Adrian finally arrived at the merchant's stall near Castle Morne's outer ramparts. The merchant noticed Adrian approaching and gave him a blank look.
"Buying or Selling...?" The merchant impatiently asked, seemingly having zero interest in the tarnished warrior standing before him.
Adrian couldn't hold back a chuckle, marveling at how varied the personalities of these nomadic merchants were. Still, he quickly gathered his bearing and replied. "Buying. Show me what you have for sale..."
The merchant nodded, retrieving several items from the back of his donkey and presenting them to Adrian. There were many items, but Adrian already knew what he wanted to buy.
"I'll take the Stonesword Key, the crossbow with bolts, and the cracked pot," Adrian stated, his voice firm and resolute.
The merchant nodded and set aside the items Adrian requested before looking at him. "Anything else...?" He added, to which Adrian hesitated for a moment, his gaze settling on a stack of kukri knives.
"I'll take the knives too... and that's it..."

Even if he doesn’t use the sword as a weapon the buff it provides is really good
