Git Gud Or Die Trying #47

Assured by the newfound control over the Flame of Frenzy, Adrian ventured deeper into the Mistwood, his steps purposeful and determined. His surroundings embraced him in an eerie silence, broken only by the distant rustle of leaves and the hushed whispers of the forest.

As he advanced, Adrian's keen senses detected the faint presence of a slumbering Runebear, a massive creature whose power could easily crush him. Cautiously, he navigated around the sleeping beast, his movements light and calculated, careful not to disturb its rest.

With each step, the ruins within the Mistwood came into view, their dilapidated structures merging with the haunting beauty of nature's reclamation. A solitary tower stood amongst the crumbling walls and shattered remnants,  reaching towards the heavens as a testament to forgotten glory.

Adrian's eyes locked onto the figure atop the tower. Taking a deep breath, he summoned the melody Kale had taught him, his lips forming the familiar tune with precision. The melody danced in the air, its ethereal notes blending with the whispers of the Mistwood.

As the last note lingered in the stillness, the figure's gaze shifted, their attention drawn to Adrian, a moment of silence briefly hanging between them, filled with anticipation. Then, with a graceful leap, the figure descended from the tower, landing before Adrian with an agile grace that belied their towering stature.

The wolfman stood at least two times taller than Adrian, a formidable presence that exuded strength and an air of primal authority. Their form was clad in heavy metallic armor, adorned with intricate engravings that told tales of battles fought and victories won. A white fur cloak draped over their broad shoulders, billowing in the gentle breeze, adding an air of regality to their appearance.

But what caught Adrian's attention, even more than the armor and the cloak, was the wolfman's face. It was not that of a human but that of a black wolf, their piercing eyes reflecting a blend of intelligence, wildness, and a depth of wisdom that contrasted his wild appearance.

The wolfman's voice rumbled forth, deep and resonant, as he spoke with a mixture of curiosity and recognition. "Who goes there?" he questioned, his gaze piercing Adrian's core.

There was a momentary pause as if the wolfman was sifting through memories to place Adrian's face. "Ah... you're that strange fellow who disturbed the bear's slumber and almost paid for it some time ago..." he continued, a hint of amusement lacing his words.

Adrian sighed, feeling both amused and embarrassed as the wolf man mentioned the incident with the slumbering bear. He couldn't help but chuckle along. "I was hoping no one saw that, but at least you got a good chuckle out of it," Adrian admitted, a lighthearted tone lacing his words.

Clearing his throat, Adrian composed himself and extended a hand

towards the wolf man. "I'm Adrian, by the way," he introduced himself, his voice steady and confident. "Kale sent me your way. Though I'm still not sure why..."

The wolfman raised an eyebrow, his piercing gaze locked onto Adrian's eyes as he shook his hand. He studied him for a moment, a flicker of recognition crossing his features. "Kale sent you, did he?" the wolf man replied, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. Adrian merely nodded in response, curious to see how the conversation would unfold.

A chuckle escaped the wolf man's lips as he shook Adrian's hand, his grip firm and strong. "Ever the bloody busybody, that Kale," he remarked, his voice tinged with wry humor.

"Hmm. Maybe to Kale, you don't seem so strange..." The wolfman said as he looked into Adrian's eyes. His keen gaze detected something hidden, a flicker of the Flame of Frenzy concealed within Adrian's irises.

Confused by Blaidd's remark, Adrian tilted his head slightly, his brows furrowed. "Pardon...?" he asked, seeking clarification.

Blaidd shook his head, a contemplative expression crossing his wolf-like features. "Never mind that..." he trailed off, dismissing his own thought. "The name's Blaidd, by the way," he introduced himself with a touch of intensity. "I'm looking for a man who goes by Darriwil..."

Blaidd raised an eyebrow and continued. "Maybe that's why Kale sent you to me... you wouldn't happen to know about him, would you?"

Adrian paused, his expression carefully crafted to feign contemplation. He already knew of Darriwil, the Bloodhound Knight, so he played his part as though he was piecing together the scattered fragments of information to keep up apearences. "Darriwil, as in Bloodhound Knight Darriwil...?" he questioned, his tone laced with feigned uncertainty.

Blaidd's gaze instantly sharpened, his eyes narrowing with anticipation and disdain. The mention of Darriwil seemed to ignite a fire within him. "That's the one..." he growled, his voice carrying a deep intensity. "He is nothing but a traitor. And in need of a fitting end to his tale."

A surge of righteous anger surged through Blaidd's veins, his wolf-like instincts fueling his determination to bring justice to the renegade knight. He met Adrian's gaze with a steely resolve, waiting for the information he sought.

Adrian maintained his composed facade, his voice steady as he spoke. "Tell me if you know where he hides. I will offer you ample reward..." Blaidd's words hung in the air, his anticipation palpable.

With a nod, Adrian revealed his knowledge. "I know exactly where he is..." he began, his voice filled with certainty. "Darriwil is trapped in an Evergoal south of Agheel's lake." He paused momentarily, allowing the weight of the revelation to settle between them. "I can take you there right now if you want..."

Blaidd's voice held a fierce determination as he spoke, his eyes gleaming with a burning resolve. "Then let us waste no time... every second Darriwil breathes is a second too long." The wolf man's words hung in the air, filled with an unwavering sense of purpose.

Adrian responded to Blaidd's call, summoning his loyal companion, Torrent, with a sharp whistle. The majestic creature materialized before him, its shimmering coat glistening in the dappled sunlight that filtered through the dense canopy of the Mistwood. Adrian swiftly mounted Torrent, his grip firm on the reins.

As they set off on their journey, Blaidd, lacking a mount of his own, relied on his wolf-like agility to keep pace with Adrian and Torrent. His movements were swift and sure, his steps blending seamlessly with the rhythm of the forest.

The Mistwood unfolded before them, its ancient trees standing tall and proud, their branches forming a sprawling canopy that cast dappled shadows on the forest floor. The air was thick with the scent of moss and damp earth, while the gentle rustling of leaves whispered secrets of the woodland realm.

Their path led them through narrow trails, winding between the gnarled roots of ancient trees. The journey was not without obstacles, and it was during one such moment that they encountered a formidable Runebear. The massive creature roared, its primal fury reverberating through the forest.

In the face of this formidable adversary, Blaidd unleashed a primal growl of his own, a sound that echoed with untamed power. The Runebear, taken aback by the sheer force of Blaidd's display, hesitated for a moment, its eyes widening in terror. The standoff allowed Adrian and Blaidd to pass unharmed, their mission uninterrupted.

The rest of their journey was filled with moments of anticipation, as the Mistwood revealed its secrets. They navigated treacherous ravines, leaped over fallen logs, and traversed rickety bridges spanning rushing streams. The ever-present sense of danger kept their senses sharp, their focus honed on the task at hand.

After several hours of arduous travel, they finally arrived at their destination – the Evergoal. The circular platform, slightly sunken into the ground, greeted them with an otherworldly ambiance. A purple glow emanated from the center, casting an eerie hue on the surrounding chamber.

Surrounding the platform stood towering worm-like creatures, their bodies composed of piled rocks. The creatures' elongated forms undulated, their stone segments held together by an otherworldly force. At the apex of each creature, a light purple glow pulsed, illuminating the immediate vicinity.

To the north, Agheel's lake glistened in the distance, its tranquil waters reflecting the moon's gentle radiance. Far to the southwest, the imposing figure of the Minor Erdtree stood tall and majestic, its branches reaching towards the heavens.

The air crackled with a sense of foreboding as Adrian and Blaidd arrived, their eyes fixed upon the Evergoal. The stage was set, the players assembled. The fate of Darriwil, the traitorous Bloodhound Knight, hung in the balance.
