Watching these back there is so much foreshadowing with Jamie. He says he’d prefer a clean death to being a cripple. A scene later the camera zooms in on his hand when he shakes hands with Jon. Then he mocks Jon for protecting the realm against White Walkers.

2025-01-05 03:44:18 +0000 UTCNed’s reasoning makes so much more sense if you read the book; in one of Dany’s chapters Jorah explains that the Dothraki do not build, they make homes of earthen hovels and houses of woven grass. They also think of salt water as unnatural and evil, so you can see how Ned would think Dothraki on ships crossing the sea is unthinkable, and it’s pretty reasonable to think that Dany would just die out in the desert, which she would have if not for her dragons. After learning Jon’s parentage it also makes you understand why Ned doesn’t like killing Targaryen children, he’s reminded of what Robert would do if he found out about Jon!
