In the books it’s verrry subtly suggested that Katniss might be related to Lucy Gray. Her mother was from the nicer side of district 12, like Peeta… people who had jobs in town outside of the mine, while Katniss’ father was from the seam. Poor miners, black market, and where the covey ended up. Her father was known for having brown features and olive skin and has covey roots on his mom’s side through someone named Baird… He was also famous for his singing voice, and Katniss too (in the books) is known for having a beautiful voice as a child. Peeta mentions this in the first book/movie. In Catching Fire she said they probably picked water because no one from district 12 can swim, so they were hoping to kill easy, but her father knew of this secret lake where he took her in the summers, so she actually knew how to swim well. In mockingjay 1, when Katniss sings Hangingtree for the first time, she’s at the covey lake her dad showed her. (Different filming locations, but it’s meant to be the same place) In the first book Katniss says there was a girl from 12 who won the 10th games, but no one knew what happened to her…

2025-07-05 11:21:29 +0000 UTCYeah, Lucy wrote the song about the first rebel we see getting hung in 12 (he was accused of murdering 3 people, told his gf to flee when she called out to him, she ends up joining him in hanging too), but it’s crazy it turns out to become even more true for Snow by the end (killed three people; meets lover at tree to run away; ends up destroying both their lives). Ms Susanne Collins does NOT play around ✍️🔥

2025-07-05 11:17:44 +0000 UTCGod I love your reactions 🙌 Snow and Lucy never really trusting each other (esp him not trusting her) was more consistent in the book: during the games, they were both sus the other was using them; in 12, she was probably the closest to trusting him, but he was super jealous and sus she was secretly still in love with her cheating ex, and then she found out he’d been planning on leaving for d2; finally in the forest, she finds out about the three he murdered (aka Sejanus, a true betrayal of a friend AND didn’t tell her), and he realises she’s the only loose end in his murder witnesses (and he’d never really trusted her anyway, so makes more sense he’d turn on her like that, and she’s already not trusting him cus she realises he’s been lying).But yeah, I’m the movie it did feel kinda sudden. Also, he was a total asshole in the book from his internal monologue, came out less in the movie (still a great film nonetheless).

However, ballads is full of songs, and theres def vibes to most of them. Suzanne is a wonderful author! In regards to the hanging tree, the song describes the first hanging we see when snow enters district 12. In the second verse the man calls out for his love- lil - to flee

2025-07-01 01:25:43 +0000 UTCThere were slits in the snake container for ventilation. I doubt his mind was rational at the time but don't think cutting the snake bite would do anything. The venom is injected at that point; though that snake wasn't venomous. It is meant to remain a mystery regarding Lucy Gray, just like the song she sang about her namesake. The ending suffers the most from the lack of inner monologue from Snow. It really shows how duplicitous he is and how he didn't really love Lucy, moreso felt possessive of her.

Also intoxicated so maybe these questions are stupid. 😃 1) How did Snow slip the cloth into the snake tub without creating an opening? 2) why wouldn’t Snow try to cut out the venom in his arm after the snakebite. Poisonous or no, that’s the first thing you should do, right. 3) what happened to Lucy Gray?? Did she just vanish? I don’t think Snow killed her in the woods. We saw some footprints but no body, no blood. 4) just to add, damn the songs were good in this movie! And the first 2 parts were awesome 🔥🔥🔥 I just got confused towards the end.

I honestly don't care that he wasn't so bad once. IMO he went crazy once Lucy Gray left him. Seriously, weak shit. (I don't believe the snake was poisonous) Then became a monster.
