I've enabled charge up front for my page, because I have had some issues in the past with people pledging to see content, and immediately unpledging afterwards without paying anything.
It basically just makes it so when someone pledges, they'll be charged for that month immediately, and then the next monthly cycle, they'll be charged as normal.
