Pungkin Episode Discussion

This was kind of a throw away joke and is based on REAL LIFE experiences with someone who was very special in my life.  Even cooler, we choose to make this a comic and I was shocked at how popular it was!  It drew in numbers (yes, I still look at stats sometimes, but they have much less importance to me thanks to you all) from our peaks in 2019 and 2018!  I was very pleased.

So this person used to say "Pungken" all the time.  They didn't have any particular accent, that's just how they said it and it was very cute to say the least. :D

No, this isn't Applejack's farm.  Haha.

Do you or someone you know says something a certain way that you enjoy?

Uh oh.... I might be saying it wrong...

For a while I had two coworkers who grew up in Texas. One day we thought to ask them to say "nuclear." One of them said "nucular" as expected. The other refused to answer.

This, this right here the cool kind of stories I like! If I was running a radio channel, this is radio gold, lol! That is very interesting! I do remember that poem too, but I don't recall I ever called it punkin even when reading it, lol. I remember a teacher would read poems to us when we were good little children. Thanks for sharing.

So funny story: I grew up saying "punkin" because of the poem "The Frost is on the Punkin" by James Whitcomb Riley (who also wrote "Little Orphant Annie," which would be the basis for the musical "Annie."). He was a big name in my little county, as he was one of my state's first celebrities. It was doubly drilled into me because I'm related to him, as a cousin. It wasn't until I got to college that I started saying "pumpkin."
