Glad that you guys enjoyed the drama! I know...I think so many began to analyze a lot of the scenes and I was quite amazed how each scene could be interpreted in so many ways. Knowing that the king was a real figure who waited for Deokim for 15 yrs, was the only Joseon king to write an epitaph on the tombstone of a consort, wrote her so many letters to her after her death stating his love for her, I think Koreans who watched this drama loved it even more because of them actually knowing the history. I know this drama was not as famous internationally, but I'm glad more people are appreciating this drama despite the fact it was trying to stick to history and not distort it. I'm glad that it still ended more on a more happy note although it wasn't happily ever after.

2022-02-20 03:27:08 +0000 UTCThere was so much symbolism in the drama. For example in ep16, there is a flower (Chinese trumpet vine) that keeps appearing. Apparently, the flower means longing and there was a story about this flower that was told during that time period. It was a story about a court lady who won the favor of the king and became his concubine. However, the king never visited her again. Time passed and even as she was dying, she kept waiting for the king. She was buried outside of the palace and over time, there was a flower that bloomed over the walls, which became known as the Chinese trumpet vine. I think this flower represented Deokim's heart for the king. She was longing for him even though she knew he could never be hers fully. Another thing that stood out was the yellow/red pouch. Apparently that pouch is given to men during that time and usually the husband. This pouch is supposed to bring good luck and men carried it with them. Deokim made this pouch with the king's sisters when she was expelled from the palace. The king's sisters asked who she was going to give the pouch, but she said she wasn't sure. However, in ep16 when she heard that she was pregnant, she was looking at the pouch once again waiting for the king to arrive; however, he never came (he came the next morning). So a lot of viewers believe that if the king came to Deokim instead of going to the queen, then she might have given the pouch to him and expressed her love.

2022-02-20 03:20:18 +0000 UTCPlease react to some behind the scenes clips of "The Red Sleeve" or an ep (ep 755 and 756) of Radio Star, in which 6 casts from "The Red Sleeve" will come out and discuss the behind stories of the drama (it's on viki) if you guys have time. If not, at least watch it on your own time. I highly recommend it. After watching the behind the scenes clips and Radio Star episodes,, I was able to laugh so much in comparison to me crying so much after watching the drama. I think the behind the scenes moments between the two leads allowed me to see why there was such good chemistry betweem Junho and Seyoung (Yisan and Deokim) in the drama.
