Not really a spoiler, but talking about how I feel about the season might set expectations, I guess? Could not agree more. Season 8, especially the first half, is basically every single trope and cliche and used-up storyline that this show has had rolled into one. I rolled my eyes so hard through most of it, feeling like "Seriously? Again? Weren't we over this 5 times in the last 3 seasons?" :D
