Great episode, i'm also glad that they didn't get rid of Lincoln's character because i do feel like he has a place in the show and an important one, he is the relatable one because while we can empathize with all the characters he is the most ''normal'' among them, he isn't an insane scientist and hasn't been kidnapped or experimented on as a child so while Walter,Peter and Olivia are better characters and we care about them we can't fully relate to them because of the absurd things that they have gone and keep going through. Lincoln in that regard is very ordinary, he is just a guy that has been a bit of a nomad and hasn't stayed put much in life who thought he had found that place in his partner's family but then he lost him and he became untethered once more and now he feels lost which is relatable to alot of people, so while he is not my favourite character (but it do like him) i do think he is needed in the show as a proxy for the ''common'' man that hasn't gone through insane traumatic events (compared to the others) but just hasn't found his place in life. We'll see how things develop between him and Fauxlivia but they seem to have something and it's interesting because Olivia and Lincoln are very similar in terms of behaviour/temperament and Fauxlivia and Alt-Lincoln were also very similar in that regard so i wonder if mixing those two types could work... Fauxlivia in general is less problematic in this universe because the Peter storyline never happened and i think the writers made that choice on purpose to make her more relatable to the audience so this episode would hit more, i personally liked the original Fauxlivia too, i found her fascinating but i totally get why they wanted to distance themselves from that character and the implications of her actions. Loved all the conversations in this episode in particular the ones between Lincoln and the shapeshifter and the one between the Lincolns, great character building and good call on Alt-Lincoln's death because like you mentioned it wouldn't have made sense/it would have been messy to have both lincoln in the same universe for a prolonged period of time so the logical one to sacrifice had to be him. Once again i've written a poem so i'll stop here, great reaction, things are heating up can't wait for the next few episodes!
