2021-01-20 19:02:31 +0000 UTCTrue. It’s your call. Depends on how much your in to the mothership series and want more. Stuff does happen on the spin offs that is referenced on CM but you can survive without seeing them. Ultimately, it depends on whether you want to see more “profiling” stories.

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior starring Forest Whitaker as the head of a 2nd team of profilers had its pilot backdoor pilot in the 5th season and then aired one 13-episode season that ran along side the back half of the 6 season before it was cancelled. Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders starring Gary Sinise as the head of a team of profilers that work international cases had its backdoor pilot in the 10th season and ran for two seasons of 13 episodes a piece along with the back half of the 11th and 12th seasons of CM. All 3 seasons ran March to May and aired the same nights right after CM.
