There was no way the plan would work, any evidence or even a confession would have been thrown out of court (it probably would have not even gotten that far). So this whole thing was a total clusterfuck. Also, Hope should have taken the plea deal. If later on they could prove her claims about Killgrave she could always recant. Jessica's desperation led to a complete disaster. Her heart is in the right place but her intellect is getting its ass kicked by her emotions. Jessica's pursuit of justice for Hope is noble, but it is also a huge impediment for her stopping Killgrave. This is one of those "trading lives" conundrums that Captain America loves so much.
