Idk, it annoys me so much. I think it's because the good guys are the Good Guys, they're not allowed to make mistakes (unless it's the favourite, then they can make as many as they want and never be blamed for it...) whereas the bad guys are the Bad Guys that have psychological issues and trauma that has made them bad and has made them not wanna let people in. (I'm being sarcastic here btw. I hate it... I enjoy the villain turned good guy characters, but I don't like the double standards...) It's all about personality and what people find appealing. Sass and sarcasm and brokenness is what most people seem to find appealing in characters... Not kindness or anything like that...

Regarding the fandom side of things I think (I can’t fully remember) that I watched this live and you’re pretty spot on. Whilst Scott may not be my favourite character he is certainly not completely to blame for this situation AT ALL. He made one mistake in trusting Theo but that was it. Stiles made a mistake too by not telling him. I don’t see why it’s so unforgivable. What makes me laugh is the fact that people HATE Scott soooo much but love characters like Theo- Theo who was the mastermind behind this. Idk what the current sentiment is in the fandom but from what I’ve seen you never see people blame Theo for this like they do Scott. You brought up such a great point too about villains doing one good thing or showing some emotion and being redeemed in viewers eyes but the same isn’t shown for hero’s who make mistakes. I always wonder why this happens in TV in general. TVD and Stefan’s character is a great example and I can think of so many others. I think there’s a lot of interesting psychology to explore there. Do people find it easier to forgive villains because they’re searching for a inkling of humanity? Do people find it harder to forgive hero’s because they expect more and are disappointed? Or is it just how tv and film portray characters that makes the difference? I went on a bit of a tangent there lmao this comment has gone on long enough!
