Goodbye Gideon, for real this time

I'm so happy for Gideon. He smiled. He feels free and like he's got a chance to just do things he wants and not base his life around taking down criminals. But I feel so bad for Reid! He was so worried about Gideon throughout the episode, and he called him loads and he didn't answer. I'm glad he at least left him a letter, and I understand why he couldn't do it in person or anything, it's not who he is. But it just hurts that he didn't answer Reid's calls or anything to assure him he's okay. I love that Strauss has grown on you a bit. The fact that she went out into the Field and actually got some experience of what they all see all the time, I think that was good for her. She finally understands better WHY they go against protocol at times. And while she's still not okay with them doing that, as it DOES effect things and they do have to have rules. But she understands it and sees their reasons. And like you said, she's a woman in the FBI with a leadership role, she HAS to be hard on people because she has to work hard to be taken seriously. And yeah, the scene where she stepped on the victims hair and she broke down. I am SO glad they added that scene, it really did make her feel more human and it showed that she really does care about the victims and it's not that she doesn't want to solve these cases or stop these Unsubs, it's that she knows that there are rules that have to be followed. I also love that Strauss wasn't really all that bothered by Garcia's greeting. She could've made some sort of comment on her professionalism or something, but she didn't, she just asked for the info they needed and didn't bother with mentioning it... I just really like that for some reason... (Plus it was hilarious! Morgan and JJ's reactions were priceless!) I also love that you understand Haley and don't hold it against her. I mean, she married Hotch BEFORE he became a Profiler. She didn't marry Hotch the Unit Chief, she married Aaron Hotchner the Prosecutor who wasn't always off in other States. This isn't what she signed up for. And like you said, they've got a kid, and she's starting to feel like they come in second to his job and the Team. And not only that, but every time he leaves for a Case, she's gotta worry about him not coming home, about getting that call from someone saying that he's been shot in the line of duty and has died, and then having to tell Jack. That must be horrible for her. (Though it was apparently implying that she was cheating this episode with that whole phone thing... How the home phone rang, Hotch answered and no one spoke and then her phone rang after and that look they shared...) I love Morgan's loyalty. He really is loyal, and it's just so amazing! If he feels that someone has slighted someone he cares about, he's not going to like them. And yeah, he is a natural leader. :) And Garcia stopping Hotch's transfer and Emily's resignation was great. And her taking Hotch the file. She may not be a Profiler, but she knows the Team and she knows that Hotch wouldn't be able to stay away if he'd seen the information on the case... Reid's profile on the kid makes me sad, because of course he would know that, he was in that situation. (Unstable parent with the other out of the picture...) I just really like that small mention of that, I enjoy when the Team uses their personal experiences to relate to someone involved in the case and help move it along. Gotta say it. "One of my Agents may have a serious drug problem that I didn't report." I HATE THAT IT'S LITERALLY CONFIRMED THAT PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT IT AND YET THEY DIDN'T HELP HIM WITH IT! I understand that with Hotch, he technically had the responsibility to report it and he didn't do it because he knew that would make things worse for Reid. But it really does hurt that no one stepped in and actually helped him with it. Excited for next episode! And many others. There are episodes this Season that, much like last season, I'm so excited for you reaction to! There are some really good ones! :) (Tbf, there are a lot of really good ones in every season... Haha But for now I'm just thinking about this one... Okay, that's a lie. There are episodes WAYYYY in the future that I'm waiting for... Hahahaha)

I agree with everything you said! It's not like Haley met Hotch after he was already in the BAU. They were highschool sweethearts, so it's not like she knew what she was getting into. And it must be extra hard when you have an infant to take care of. I really get her frustration, and her feelings are 100% valid. I never cared for Gideon, but it was still tough to see the team struggling - and especially Reid! Love what they did with Emily in this episode!

A great episode. Full of good acting, an unsub you remember, politics, feelings and the team showing why they work so well together. Even the kid actor does a really good job of potraying someone who's innocence is slowly being taken away and replaced by something darker. Strauss is an interesting character. I mean, she's annoying and she definitly have a personal agenda that makes it hard to like her, but she's not a bad person. And you understand both Hayley's and Hotch's point of view. Neither of them are completly right or wrong, as you said. Hotch should make his family more of a priority, but at the same time this is what he wants to do. He wouldn't be happy without it and its not a job you can do part-time. But Hayleys feeling are valid too and all this just shows that they are no longer on the same page. Often the directors of tv-shows tries to make it the fault of one through cheating or something, but here its just two people who loves each other but can't seem to make it work together. Great reaction like always.

A lot of people really hate Haley and I never understood it. This life isn’t fair on her and her problems are completely valid. I don’t know how she’s managed all this time virtually alone. I feel like for jobs like this that are so demanding it’s better to find someone in your field? Or accept that you will never be able to balance two lives. I love Derek! He’s so loyal and such a natural leader. The way he was taking the reigns in the beginning of the episode was so him. It doesn’t matter if Strauss is there. Idk this episode really got me in terms of team interactions. Hotch and Garcia I adore together. Hotch and Derek. Gideon and Spencer. Emily really feels solidified into the team now too. But Gideon is gone😭😭😭 I cried when I first watched all his goodbye scenes. I love that it was Spencer who got the letter. Gideon always felt like a mentor for him from the first episode. I’m sad that Gideon didn’t say a proper goodbye to everyone else but this really fits his character. I can’t imagine him sitting down with everyone and telling them he’s leaving. He had a perfect reason but I’m still not over it. Goodbye Gideon!
