I don't think it's so much saying that Stiles caused his Mothers death, but more about keeping the Sheriff from remembering him. He's accustomed to living with someone, so suddenly having that person he lived with erased would mean he lived alone, but like everyone else, his subconscious would tell him something is wrong, because he's used to living with someone. Like, maybe he'd automatically call out for someone in the house, or make two meals for dinner or something like that. So I think Claudia is more there to fill that gap... I'm not sure though... Also, I love that they didn't drag things on this season. Like, they had them figure out basically immediately that someone was missing. They didn't have Liam and Corey hate each other for multiple episodes, they had them immediately realise they were hurting Mason by not trying to get along, and just got over it. It makes sense that Liam distrusted him, as he took Mason as soon as they found out he was the Beast (which I get, Corey was just trying to help and it's understandable...) therefore preventing them from maybe being able to protect him. He probably just feared that Corey might make a choice like that again. But yeah, they got over it immediately, they didn't have Mason and Corey break up over it, or Liam and Mason be in a fight for a few episodes. They could've used it to cause loads of drama between the Puppy Pack (Fandom name for Liam, Mason, Corey and Hayden... It's honestly adorable... Haha) but they didn't because it would be totally unnecessary and stupid... And same with everyone remembering Stiles, they could've dragged it on for ages that they just didn't remember, but instead they had them sense something was up immediately, and do something about it instead of just brushing it off as kinda weird but overall nothing.

I know Dylan had a life threatening injury on The Maze Runner set and he had to have a surgery and he was also super busy filming other movies, but goddamn Teen Wolf is so different without Stiles.
