I get he was 19, his parents went missing and suddenly he has responsibility of his teenage sister, but to leave her in foster care before New Years after she just lost her parents and then never go back for her is kinda harsh. No wonder she's so private about her life.

I don't disagree with your assessment of her, but I also know firsthand the value of a friend like that. It was a really good episode. I don't mind the corpse of the week style right now, it's good for character building. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kind of started the same way.
