It is kind of sad how Damon believes all his progress is entirely due to Elena, and thus he just regresses to shitty behavior like when "Elena"/Katherine dumped him. If he believed in himself more - like he did this episode - then he would realize that he can be his own person without being violent and impulsive. I also agree about the Enzo Damon friendship. I love Enzo, but his friendship with Damon never made sense to me. Even personality-wise, they just never seemed to have much in common and it just felt very forced and out of nowhere. Damon and Alaric, as weird as their friendship was, too, had a lot of development, and they both had personalities that would just click, even in the real world.

It’s not fair on Elena and that’s not including the mixed signals on if they’re on track or not. It’s not fair on Damon because he’s not fully experiencing how it feels to put that trust in yourself. To attribute his success in controlling himself to Elena isn’t right because it’s Damon who’s done the hard work! Let him have it! I really don’t like the Damon and Enzo friendship. It might be one of the worst for me. I feel like Damon and Alaric were miles better and had chemistry. I like Enzo and Damon as jseparate characters but not together.
